Update on The Bite

Mom's wrist has gotten worse. On Friday her doctor told her that if the infection spread in her wrist to go to the ER. So Mom ended up in the ER last night and they gave her antibiotics through an IV. So now she has two antibiotics to take. She also has to follow up with another visit to her Doctor next week, unless her symptoms worsen today and she has to go back to the ER. They told her last night if she had to come back to the ER they would admit her to the hospital.

Kitties this is nothing to mess around with.
Mom is thinking of all of you and will be back to visiting as soon as she is able.

She is not mad with me, but she is a bit wary when she pets me and I nip her.

  1. Abby girl - tell mom not to worry about visiting us. She needs to take care of her self and get well first, then she can go visiting. WOW! Abby - you really did it up big time. I hope you has given your mom snuggles and attempted to apologize! Dat was a really bad bite.

  2. holy CATS! You guys take care of your Mom...Johnny bit Mommy once on the knuckle (THROUGH the knuckle) and it was a pain to get healed up. No wonder we get abscesses when we fight.
Paws crossed and purrs for your Mom.

  8. This is not the news we were hoping to hear. Cat bites ARE bad, but it is shocking how bad yours got so quickly. We will purr and ray and hold thumbs and EVERYTHING that the antibiotics will start to work on those bad germs very fast. Nobody wants to have to be admitted to hospital if it can be avoided. All you kitties out there: NO BITING!

  9. Tell your mom not to worry about visiting! Get that infection under control! Our mom's first cat bite they hooked her up to IV antibiotics too plus they gave her a very painful tetanus shot. Bites are nothing to take lightly. Sometimes we have to put the bitey on our moms to let them know we've had enough. Get well soon!

  13. Oh my gosh we are so very sorry....
Kitties are a mystery they ask for a rub then they get over stimulated...I guess that must be their wild ancestors coming out.
Take care of yourself and thank goodness you got immediate attention.
Shelly at SAS bite her mom several weeks ago she had the exact same reaction and was on multiple antibiotics too.
    Hugs from Madi and Mom

  14. We are sending healing purrs. Cats have all sorts of nasty germs in their mouth. If you get bitten and it breaks the skin you should immediately wash the bite in HOT HOT soapy water. (the water should be almost scalding hot, not quiet cause you don't want to burn yourself). Then pour hydrogen peroxide over it and keep some sort of antibiotic cream on it.

If you notice any sort of sign of infection you should go to the doctor ASAP. Hope this advice is useful to some of our friends.

  22. O, we are so sorry to hear this! We are purraying the antibiotics work, and there won't be any more dr visits. We always hear how clean kitties are, but kitties sure have dirty mouths. Maybe they should spend some time chewing on toothbrushes - they chew on everything else.

  26. Greetings,

I have bitten and scratched many times and afterwards feel bad about it. He washes the wound and then cleans it with a little alcohol or disinfected and so far it has never required a visit to the doctors office, even though once or twice it was real bad.

    Warmest reagards,
    Ms K and Dad
