Remember

The holidays are a time of family & friends.
They usually denote a time of fun and festivity.
But for some, struggling with illness and loss, it is a time of silent sadness.
This year, many, far too many of our furfriends and their families are suffering with just that heavy heart.
So please keep them close in your thoughts as the holidays come closer.
While many of us are celebrating, they are nursing breaking or broken hearts.
So this year, like so many others I will light my candle and hope. Hope that it helps bring some light and cheer, hope that for just a moment the darkness will not be a place of despair and sadness, but of warmth and light. All of us here will remember and reminisce.

Blessings to Miss Parker, Daisy Mae, and Ginger Jasper, Winchester and to anyone out there who is dealing with an ill cat. May you enjoy each and every moment with your Mom and Dad, and they with you.

Our deepest sorrows are with the losses of long time cat blogosphere kitties. Dear Opus has joined his brother Roscoe at the Bridge. Farewell for now dear Opus, know that you are no longer suffering in these earthly shackles.

And sweet Seaborne, handsome beyond words, gone long before your time. You shall be missed by many. We know that all of our furfriends who go before us make a path and wait for us. WE will see you again for our joyful reunion.

Sometimes the smallest things
take up the most room in your heart.

  3. Lovely post and we join you with purrs and purrayers.

Mom Kim here: I was in Dollarama on Friday and the elderly lady ahead of me was chatting with the cashier. She had recently lost her husband and was facing Christmas alone. And the cashier, who probably is younger than me, lost her husband to cancer in May. I remember chatting with her last year--both her husband and young daughter were gravely sick. And while I usually feel a bit "down" over the holidays because I'm without family here, I was reminded that for many, grief and loneliness is fresh. This is not the joyful time it's made out to be, not for a great many.

  6. It can be a sad time and your post is lovely. I have lost a dear friend just two months ago but find solace in helping her husband care for her daughter - we are taking them today to get their Christmas tree. There are still beautiful moments even in the midst of sorrow. We just need to look for them.

  13. What a thoughtful and beautiful post.
What I love about the cat blogging community is that everyone appreciates and genuinely cares for what each other are going through and understands the connection and love we have for our pets.

I haven't met many of the friends you have listed here but I wish each of them the very best for the future and will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.

  14. Parker's Mommy here - You have touched our hearts here in O Hi O. We thank you for your prayers. Watching Miss Parker Pie fade slowly is heart breaking - she is such a sweet kitty and she's doing her thing gracefully and as she wishes. Every day is a gift and while Scott and I decorated the tree today, she sat and watched as if to say, "nice work, I approve". There are no words for what we feel about her illness.
    Thanks you.
    (((hugs))) and smoochies from Parker
