Eight Gotchas

Today is the eighth time I can celebrate being owned by Boo, Jinx and Ping.

There may be  some who do not know about their story.
Eight summers ago some
stupid
unkind
idiotic
human dumped 3 young cats near by my house.
They took refuse under my windows.
One day I came walking up to my front entryway and found Boo & Jinx
napping on the chair in the entry way.
Naturally they bolted when they saw me, but Jinx was hungry enough that he
stuck around and asked for some food!
When I brought the food out Boo reappeared and Ping popped out of the bushes.

We had never had any animal companions.
I mistakenly believed I could keep all 3 of them as "outdoor" cats.
Boy, was I wrong.
I worried too much about them and what could happen to them.
So it didn't take long before they moved inside for good.

Ping has always had 'issues' of terrible insecurity, I don't know what those
stupid
unkind
idiotic
humans did to him, but they sure did a number on his head.
He is 100% better but he will resort to his old insecurities if anything outside
of what he considers 'normal' happens.
Jinx is the one who saved all 3 of them, of that I am convinced.
I mean why stay together?
I believe he kept them together, they were all under a year when they arrived on
our doorsteps. What did they know of the world?
Jinx was the glue then and he still is now.
He is a wise old soul.
The only issue he has is food.
I believe he remembers those days of starving, before I knew that they were out there.
He hasn't forgotten.
He doesn't to this day let me forget meal time.
He is a regular little stop watch.
Miss Boo is still the detached little girly girl she has always been.
As time as gone on, she has become more loving, but she is extraordinarily wary.
All of them do not trust strangers, can you blame them?

So to that
stupid
unkind
idiotic
human who dropped Boo, Jinx and Ping off near my home,
a big THANK YOU for giving me 3 of the most important parts of my family.

  11. What a beautiful story. I'm so happy it has a happy ending. I will never understand how people can be so cruel to poor defenseless animals who ask for nothing other than a little kindness and maybe a little food.

  17. Happy gotcha day you three!! We're so glad you found such a great home, but we're so sorry you had to go through that mess with the idiots who dumped you!

  18. This beautiful story made our day! Happy Gotcha Day guys!!! How long do you think they were they abandoned before you discovered them? It's very unusual for a male cat to take charge that way. Litters will scatter well before a year and if they stay together it's usually a matriarchal link.

♥Abby♥Boo♥Ping♥Jinx♥Grace♥- thank you for your kind purrrs for Scooter...... the v-t said to take the steroid dose right down to a quarter a pill a day, so I did that today, but poor Scoot still had a bad reaction.... will speak to the v-t again tomorrow.

  26. They had a rough start, but what a sweet ending! Its heartbreaking to think of what people will do to animals. I often wonder about our MMM. But, anyway, Happy Gotcha Day to all three! God was looking out for you.

Thank you, Debra, so much for your condolences and words of wisdom. It seems you always know what to say, then say it beautifully. Thanks to friends like you, this ordeal has been a little easier. The manner of her passing and my participation in it has been a comfort as well. Thank you so much. Take care and God bless you.
