Thursday's Update

Abby in her chair.
This is where she always sleeps, everyday.
What a beautiful sight to my eyes.

Abby up and walking around.
If you look close you can see her shaved leg.
That is where her port was and she hated that catherer.
(I don't blame her one bit)

I felt we were having a darned good day, until I had the chance to sit
down and try and decipher what the Echocardiogram meant.

This is the second page of the report and I thought the first page was
bad enough to get through, I mean what systolic function is hyperkinetic
with a SF%55 mean? Well it basically means that there is a problem with
the way her heart is beating and that there is diminished contraction
of the heart muscle. That took me awhile. Worse part on page one
was that her Left Atrium is moderately enlarged. That is one of the
things that trigger her HCM as being moderate to severe.
Then I see where the Dr who read the report was talking about
trombus in the aorta valve. So what had been a day of small victories
seems like it ended with one big thud.
If she throws a clot it's pretty much the end of the road.
***
I guess, that's why ignorance is bliss and it does say
"possible".
I suppose that is why her Specialist didn't point this out on Tuesday.
But tomorow when we have our next visit I will be asking about it.
I hope we have all the reports back tomorrow so I can get a better
idea about all of her values.
***
You want to know the kicker, the HCM is her secondary disease.
The Hyper-T is the primary disease and it is what lead to the  HCM.
***
So everyday is going to be a victory.
It's going to be my one more day with Abby day.
Just like the Diamond Rio song:

One more day
One more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
But then again
I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you

  1. It all looks scary but I say wait till you talk to the vet. We send our purrs and love to you all. I hope they find the right treatments to bring you many more healthy days together. :-)

  2. I hope to God that Abby doesn't really have a blood clot and that she has much more time with you yet. I can't pretend that wouldn't be serious; that's how I lost Chumley. But don't go down that road until you've talked with the vet. And what does "possible" mean? 10% chance? 50% chance? Does s/he even know?

I meant to check in with you earlier today, but just haven't had the chance.

Sending hugs and Light and love to you both; the boys send purrs, as always.

  3. Oh my goodness. Awww Abby - sweet beautiful Abby. I am praying very hard for many more "one more day with Abby" days - many many many more. Fingers crossed for tomorrow's vet's visit. Please take care

  4. Sweet Abby. So good that you are acting more normal.

If the clot stays where it is, and doesn't detach, that would be better. I wonder, is one of her tablets something to help to dissolve the clot? Like when somebody has a thrombosis in their leg?

How hight was the reading for her T4?

  7. Oh dear friend, my heart just goes out to you and Abby. Yes, sometimes ignorance is bliss and it's the route I usually take. Love those pictures of her. Enjoy each day and try not to worry about tomorrow. Whatever happens will happen and there isn't much you can do about it. I know it's easy to say don't worry about it, but it's second nature for us folk that love our furbabies so much. Hugs for you and Abby.

  8. Yes, we think about possible versus probable? What are the chances? How often? We are purring hard for Abby and hope for the best possible news for her-

  9. Well we are all purring and praying for beautiful Abby too. We also agree with the others, wait and find out. Think about it, lots of things that are possible never happen.

  13. I am sending purrs Abby's way... well, of course I have never stopped! I think you need to ask the vet for lots of clarification so you know just what you are dealing with. In any case, it is still great to see Abby up and about and back to her normal napping spot.

  14. It's heartwarming to see Abby back on her chair. Days with all of our loved ones are precious, and quality days where they can do the things they love, like her napping in her chairs, are the best kind of all.

We are purring for Abby nonstop, and we hope that things go well when you talk to the specialist.

  22. The printed word is scary, and hopefully the vet can clarify this. And in the meantime, listen to the Master (Mistress) - Abby will tell you how she's doing.

We are continuing to purr. She looks so beautiful and peaceful.

  23. Those are very scary words on the report. I know it would freak me out totally and I would probably have spent the whole day and night surfing the internet and scaring myself even further.

Hopefully the vet visit tomorrow will give a clearer picture of what's going on and how it can be treated. I understand Hyper-T can be managed. Since the HCM is secondary, will managing the Hyper-T treat the HCM?

  24. I always try to ask for the worst news first, and explained slowly, demanding to know what the results of any condition will be. It's painful but it helps me understand.

  25. We hope the vet visit today, Friday goes well and you get full information from the vet, it's ok to keep asking and asking until they tell you in a way that is clear and can sink in. At these times it's hard to take in all these bumps in the road.

Don't try and second guess until you know what you are dealing with - this is what our vets tell me every time there is something potentially scary, it's good advice, but so hard to follow when you are so worried.

It's lovely to see Abby at home again, I bet she feels so much better now

Still sending love and rumbly purrs

  26. I know it is difficult, if not impossible, but try not to think too hard about it until you visit the specialist.

And just keep enjoying every moment of every day you have with your sweet Abby. We are purring and praying that you have LOTS of moments and LOTS of days together.

    Hugs.

  27. It is encouraging that Abby is sleeping in her normal spot. The report does sound scary, but long words can do that!! As others have said take one step at a time and appreciate all the time you have together! Still purring and praying that that is a LONG time! xox
