EZ December Sunday

It's December!
Wow!
How did that happen?? How does time pass so slowly yet so quickly too? For most, this month will be filled with lots of hustling and bustling and merriment. For others who are without loved ones it will be a time of mixed emotions. I always try to keep in mind amid all the excitement of the Holidays (whichever ones you celebrate) there is an element of sadness too. I know one cannot dwell in sorrow but it is something we each deal with in our own way. This December will be very bittersweet as I look back over the previous 8 with my Abby and this year being the first without her. I don't have the joyfulness in my heart this year without her. All of the firsts are hard.

  1. Firsts are always hard. And here we are already being pushed along with so much stuff to do in such a short time.

  2. Firsts are always hard. This is the first holiday season without the head peep's mother. We are doing our best to keep her very busy so she doesn't have time to stop and think about much. Lots of purrs from all of us.

  6. I was thinking of you a bit earlier, lying in bed. Thinking about Christmas and how I was 10 months without Annie before the holidays rolled around, and so it wasn't the grief-filled time that I had expected. Things felt "off", not seeing her under the tree, but it was okay. I don't think it will be quite the same for you, though. Sending (((hugs))) and Light.

Sometimes the Cowper quote that got me through so many years in my 20s and 30s still comes to mind: The darkest day, if lived till tomorrow, will have passed away.

  8. Change and loss are so difficult, especially at holiday time. Hugs to you during this time. It's amazing how it can be such a happy time for some and such a sad and difficult time for others. It really is such a hard time.

Gracie sure is adorable here with her surprised little face. :)

  12. Yes, the firsts are very hard. We have to try and accept that nothing is the same or ever will be again. Easier said than done.
