Carrying You Home

What do you see on the Horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home.

It's been two years.
24 long months.
The deep pain of your loss has been replaced by
an even deeper longing
of the absence of your presence.
I do not know how long this phase of my Grief
for you will last.
or if...
it will only grow.

I miss you.
It's so simple.
Yet so complex.
I miss you.
More than can be expressed.
I just miss you.

I look for answers and a path
to acceptance of this emotion.
I sit with it
and feel it
wash over me.

I have forgotten so much.
Too much.
Time does that to our memories.
It tempers them with a hazy fog
maybe to protect us.

But, I long to see your face
looking into mine
knowing the unconditional love
in your eyes.

I long to sweep you into my arms
and hold you.
One more time.

***
INTO THE WEST

Lay down
your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You're journey has come to an end
Sleep now
They are calling
From across the distant shores

Why do you weep
What are those tears upon your face
Soon you will see
All your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see on the horizon
Why do the white gulls call
Across the sea a pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home.

Hope fades
Into a world of night
Through shadows falling
Our of memory and time
Don't say : we have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the west.

***

"Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret Gate
And though I oft have passed them by
A will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon
East of the Sun"

  13. We're purring our respects for the memory of Abby and sending hugs to you. Memories fade/shift/transmute but love stays pure at our core. It's that LOVE light that slips through the cracks to heal drop by drop.

  14. Love and hugs to you. The Tabbies are right, the memories are still there and always will be. A word, a song or even just a sound can trigger it, and they come flooding back. I think we believe the memories fade because to have them all at once and all of the time would be too overwhelming.

  20. This morning I read John Bellen's post from yesterday and saw it was a much better way of saying what I had put in my earlier comment.
