Danger Will Robinson

Abby is on full alert.
Do you see what I see? Who is that intruder and what is he doing in my yard?

The little black and white kitty with no home.

~~~~
I feel bad for this orphaned kitty. I know he has done nothing to deserve his fate. Yet he is causing such a ruckus in our house. Ping ( our orange tabby) is spraying all over because of this intrusion. Ping makes such pitiful howling noises when he sees this cat, which totally upsets all or our cats in the house. I found this cat yesterday up at the window with Abby on one side and him on the other with their faces pressed to the glass and open clawed paws against the window where Abby was growling at him. So we have to capture him and surrender him. I hate to do that because it will seal his fate, but I can't continue to let him reek havoc with my cats. It's a sad situation.
What Is He Doing?
Ping & Boo
Rain was coming, and the leaves from the maple tree had been falling in the gutters, so Dad had to go get the ladder and clean out the leaves from those gutters. Ping & Boo were entranced by all the brouhaha. What was Dad doing??
Hide And Go Seek
Abby plays 'invisible cat' behind the door in the kitchen. She is a worry cat, she feels pressure it appears to make sure her back is covered at all times from the other cats. She is always on guard when any of the other cats are nearby. It is odd to me because the other 4 are so docile towards her. She is the aggressor. The only thing I can think of is that because she is so small, she makes like a BIG cat, a defensive move on her part. As it stands they give her a wide berth, but secretly I believe she is afraid of them.
Brotherly Love
Every morning Gracie goes up to either Jinx or Ping and rubs her head against them.
This morning, Jinx started giving her kitty kisses.
He tried to keep her head down but she resisted and right after this shot she gave him the "paw" and he pawed back, and that ended that!
Santa's Lap
Last weekend I was putting away the last of the Christmas decorations, and I moved Santa from his spot near the fireplace. Because Santa is about the size of a small child I put him in one of the chairs in the living room, and sort of forgot about him. Until I saw Abby curled up in his lap. I didn't think the cats would show any interest in Santa, but what I didn't take into account was that the spot between his legs was just the right size for my pint size kitty to curl up and be hidden from view. Naturally when I got the camera out she got up, but I still managed to get a few shots of her lovin' on Santa.
Visit Friday Ark, to see this week's round-up of cats, dogs and other animals.Also, make it a habit to stop by the 95th Carnival of the Cats which goes up every Sunday and will be hosted this week by Niobium.
Tooth Gremblin
Abby
This is a favorite photo I recently got of Abby. I love the play of light over her. Abby is suppose to go in and have some dental work done on February 3. She is 6 1/2 years old now, and I don't believe her former owners ever did anything with her teeth. She has heavy tartar on nearly all of her teeth, and she also has her front right canine broken at the gum. That happened before she came to us, I can't imagine how it happened because she is not a daredevil, so it's hard for me to understand how her tooth was broken to the gumline. She has adapted to it, so I am assuming it is an old break. But, she does have trouble chewing her food, so when I took her into the vet recently and she checked her out she said we needed to address her teeth issues. I have been worried about her being put under anesthetics. So I did a little research on the issue, and I found that there is reason for my underlying concern. It is a common practice in veterinary medicine to use a combination of ketamine and valium to do dental work. But, for some cats, this is a deadly cocktail. So, this only increased my already high anxiety level about having this done. Last week I went for my normal dental appointment, and I even asked my dentist what he would do about her tooth, and he said she needed it pulled and have her teeth cleaned. I know that was a really oddball question for him, but I thought he would be a good person to ask. The buildup on her teeth is not good for her overall health, and it does need to be addressed, but I am really nervous about having her put under general anesthetic. Anyone have any thoughts? HELP!
Enjoying The Outdoors
Both Ping & Jinx just love being outside on the porch. They always hastily run to the sliding glass door when they see one of us going in that direction. Neither of them can wait to get out to the outside. Their Dad made this cat "couch" for them a few months ago, there is room enough for all 5 of the cats if they all wanted to be up there together, which would be a miracle in itself. So far we've only seen 4 of them up on it at a time. Abby has yet to really 'discover' the porch, and has shown no interest in visiting. But, all the others like to come and go as they please. Wish there was a way for them to have access to this area all the time, but when we are at work, they can only sit at the many windows in the house and look out.
Me & My Shadow
Abby
Abby is staring off into spaces unknown with unknown thoughts. Perhaps she is only meditating in the sun and soaking up a few rays. I love how her reflection peers back at you in the window as well as how her shadow falls behind her.
Wait & Watch
Where is she?
I had the week after Christmas off, and it was enjoyable to stay home and just do stuff around the house. The cats particularly liked me being home. They got a great deal more attention (and food) than when they are there by themselves. Yesterday when I got up at my normal time (4am) they weren't even awake and waiting at the bedroom door. I had to go rouse them up so I could get them fed before leaving. Abby always stays closest to me, and she didn't want me to go to leave. I could tell she was pouting. When I do something she doesn't like she will not look at me and walk away from me, so I knew she was unhappy with me leaving. When I got home after work yesterday, Boo would not let me out of her sight. I know they will readjust to our old schedule, but it was kinda nice to be missed.
Beautiful "Boo"
I know I am partial, but I believe Boo is gorgeous. She is such a delicate and polite girly girl . She is very much a Mama's girl. She has her independence, but she has grown into a cat who wants to be with her people. Whereas she use to lean away when I reached out to pet her, she now leans in and savors the touch. I can only surmise that perhaps it has taken this long for me to win her over, she was thrown away by her former owner, and I know she must remember her short time on the street. But, she has her forever home now with a family that adores her.
