Feline Follies

I have to do something with this towel.

Let me see.

How can I get it to go where I want it?

Scratch scratch....

Scratch.

I can't get it in the right spot.

But I'm going to keep trying!

Fluffy

I look like I'm on a puffy cloud.
And I look very fluffy.
Believe me it's ALL fluff too.
Mom is doing all she can to fatten
me up, and I'm not complaining!

Can we now get back to some regularly scheduled programming?
Like naps and squirrel watching?

Is It Over Yet?

It's been a wild two weeks for Miss Annabelle.
But, it's probably longer than that because we all
know how well cats hide their pain.
I say that because of the amount of weight she had lost.
I believe she had cut back on her eating by a lot
because her mouth was bothering her with that
abscessed tooth. I won't ever know but that's what I
suspect.
But the Vet (unscheduled) visit was April 11th and
then all the fall out from the antibiotics or pain meds or
both gave Annabelle a gastro upset which made her
feel awful. Then her Dental work wasn't able to be
scheduled until April 21.
I had to take her in at 7:30 am but the dental didn't begin
until after 1pm. HUH?
To be expected she's sore and swollen and eating
little meals. I know she's miserable but I keep
hoping for that morning where she turns the corner.
She has dissolvable stitches. Does anyone know
(I read that it can take up to a month)
how long they take to dissolve?
My interaction with the actual "Vet" has been
a big fat "0".
Even when the dental was done it was the tech calling
me. The tech has been great but I've only spoken to
a Vet once for about 3 minutes when Annabelle was
first looked at. I don't like this approach,
especially since I had called and asked to directly
speak to the Vet because I had questions.
The tech apologized and gave me the excuse
that the Vet had emergency surgery and couldn't call,
so that's why she was calling me.
Ummmmm....really?
Sounded like an excuse.
But that's all water under the bridge and the only
thing I can do is find another Vet.
Always something. Always.
At this point I just want Annabelle to feel more
like herself again, and be healthy.

Sweetness

*Resting*

UPDATE:

***
It was a rough day for Miss Annabelle yesterday.
She lost three teeth on both sides of her mouth.
She has dissolving stitches and it's bothering her.
She was very uncomfortable when she came home.
She wanted food but couldn't eat it.
No matter how watery I made it.
She is swollen more on the left side of her jaw this morning.
I was able to give her the pain meds.
She struggled but finally I got it in her.
I again offered her watered down food.
She has eaten. But I think the small meals are
probably a better option for her today.
I will keep trying to give her small amounts.
She is grooming and going potty.
As worried as I am I think she is doing OK.
I just want to help her so badly and there's not
a lot I can do..

***
Just send her some purrs.

Purrs for Annabelle

Please keep Annabelle in your thoughts today.
She will have her Dental procedure today.

I'm going to be a wreck.

Our Not So Good Lousy Week

Annabelle and I had a time of it last week and well,
to be honest this week probably won't be a whole lot
better.

***
Last weekend I noticed she was 'off' and not wanting to
eat. So I called on Saturday to talk with her Vet office.
They didn't have an opening until the following Friday,
so I said I knew they had "emergency" visits that had an
additional "FEE" and what was the availability of that?
I was told it was a first come first serve from 9-12 and 2-4.
(To be honest with you I think this is a way for them
to make an additional $20 off of you)
Anyway I took her in on Monday.

***
It was a strange visit but then it was an emergency visit.
They took her to the back but let me sit in a room by myself.
The Vet came in briefly to see me and told me Annabelle
had a bad tooth and to schedule a dental as it needed to be
removed. Gave me antibiotics and metacam for pain.

***
Dental couldn't be scheduled until April 21st.
Yeah nearly two weeks at that point.
All I could do was schedule it and hope the pain
in Annabelle's mouth subsided.

***
It did.
BUT.....she got very sick with diarrhea.
I mean it was awful.
For her and for me.
I had to put her in the bathroom overnight
and when I got up the next morning.
Let's just say it was a disaster zone.
Her bottom was caked so I had no
choice but to give her a bath to her bottom.
Welp there was blood shed.
Mine.
It was a low point.
She was soaking wet and I was wounded.
But she got her butt washed.

***
I tried to call the Vet office, left a message.
She continued to have issues.
I stopped both antibiotics and pain meds.
She needed to get her system back in line.
I had to put her back into the bathroom that next
night.

***
I set up cameras both nights to keep an eye on her.
She managed to knock off one of the
cameras into her water bowl so I'm one
camera down now.
*sigh*

***
But she nearly back to her normal self on Friday.
It felt like such a (short term) relief.
I called the Vet office BACK because I had
called from the day before & not heard back.
The techs were real nice, and it turned out
that the Tech called me back not the Vet as I
requested. I mean c'mon. I know it's not the
Tech's fault, and I didn't even suggest it was
to her or even now, but I needed to talk to
the Vet. I had questions about the Dental.
I wanted to make sure they knew no more
metacam. Annabelle can't tolerate it.

***
So even though the Vet said to keep up the antibiotics
I didn't. I will start her up on them again
next week prior to Thursday when she goes in
for the Dental. I don't know how good I feel
about this, but she's got to get this done.

***
I may be shopping for a new Vet.
BTW this Hospital, has 5-6 Vets. You never know
who you'll see. I mean if you have plenty of
time you can request a certain Vet but you'll wait for
a few weeks to get an appointment.
I understand if it's just a routine appointment,
but most of the time a pet becomes sick
and you need to be seen as soon as possible.
So I can see ASAP means an additional $20.
Which is on top of their $75 normal "wellness check".

***
I don't know about anyone else but it's hard budget
wise right now and I'm not saying I won't give my
girls their medical care, but between all of this and the Dental
(which is four figures depending on the # of teeth they pull)
I'm about tapped out.
I mean there goes the cushion.

***
Big huge sigh.
Just want my baby to be OK.

SHOCK

Call us shocked!

***
I've had some problems with some neighbors.
Minor things since they've moved in.
What they say doesn't match what they do.
Those kind of folks.

***
A few weeks ago after a skirmish with some underbrush
being removed between our properties, (and since finding out
that it isn't their property -- it's a utility easement)
from what they deemed was their property, they came
over and fussed and fumed and issued a dire
warning NOT TO DO IT AGAIN!
They also stopped the people I PAID to do the work.

This is the underbrush. It's thick and had lots of thorny vines.
There was problems with bees building their nests,
snakes, and debris falling all the time.
Last year one of their medium sized trees fell into my yard.
Did they help?
No I had to hire someone to cut it up and remove it.

***
Anyway....
Last week they came over and asked if we'd
seen their rooster??? I hear their rooster
I've never seen it.
They have an 8 foot privacy fence.
So the rooster was missing. Feathers had been
found by their cars on the other side of their property line
from mine. But they had seen some cats.
Of course they were accusing the outdoor
cats of taking off with their rooster.
Ummmm....

***
I honestly do not believe the cats had anything to do
with this.
I know I'm being biased with my thinking,
but the cats that were seen were probably alerted to the smell
of the kill. These cats do no go hungry and the chicken coop
has been in existence for over a year.
The missing feathers were over on the other side of their
property.

***
I have tried to just not have any interaction
with these people as they are not very likeable.
I imagine they think the same of me.
I just hope they don't try to do anymore
to those innocent cats.
Two of them have been shot with bb's.
When I mentioned that fact to them they were
quick to deny it was them.
Strange though that this only happened
after the chicken coops were put up.
But, I don't know for sure it was them,
just like them I have my suspions.

***
But, since they have a free roaming cat I was
warning them.
Someone shot two of my cats.
I didn't go over and ask them when it happened.
I didn't go over and insinuate it was them.
Like they did with me.
I didn't go over and ask for assistance.
I just dealt with it.

***
If you have a chicken coop,
make it so other predators can't get in.
We have all kinds of predators in my wooded
neighborhood.
Raccoons, possums, foxes, snakes, bears...
I mean it could be any type of predator.

***
I know cats could be the culprit, but I doubt
the ones I feed were.

What IS that?

She's on top of the mattress which was being adjusted and it's near
the ceiling fan which she is noticing for the first time.

She's thinking can I swing from this thing?

Happy Spring

Oh look what today is!
It's the first official day of spring.

Our weather has been up and down,
and really we've had very little 'spring'.
It's more like summer-light.

But after having freezing conditions last weekend
we hope for the sake of all the new blooms
that is all as far as freezes go.

Naptime

Sometimes a good yawn is all it takes..
Think I'll take a nap now.
