When I saw this picture it took my breath away. Every so often an image comes together so beautifully, the composition, the look,the light, everything. I just knew when I took this picture that it was going to be one of my all time favorite images of my sweet little angel and it doesn't disappoint me.

As I was looking at this, a thought came; do cats ever have vain moments? We human obsess sometimes about how we look, do cats care? It got me thinking about how images are changed and sharpen and air brushed and photo shopped. Cats don't need any of that and I don't think they worry in regards to their 'image'. Cats grow gracefully and peacefully. I think I want to be more like Abby and just be happy with how am I right now...

A HERO lies within you

There's a hero if you look inside your heart

You don't have to be afraid of what you are.

Abby cleaning the kitchen counter. She does this each and every meal. She does not like a speck of food left on the table.
Hurry up Mom and get this stuff cleaned up, I'm working as hard as I can....

PING UPDATE:

Ping is doing a little better. He is able to put a bit more weight on his back left leg. I think he has several weeks of healing to do.All purrs have helped make him feel so much better.

Ping:
It's been a tough week, but I think I'm gonna pull through. I am still walking gimpy and not putting much pressure on my back left foot but everyday it gets a little better. I made it to breakfast and had my meal with Jinx and Gracie. I can stand up that long now. Before Momma was bringing my food to me which was nice but being a big mancat I needed to get up and go into the kitchen for my meals. I still can't jump up very well, but I am compensating by just taking small steps. I think I have finally turned the corner, but I overheard Momma saying if I'm not better really soon I will have to go back to the dreaded doctor again. I really don't want to go not that they weren't nice to me, but it's not the kinda place I like hanging out. Please keep me in your purrs I appreciate all the healing vibes I can get.

Happy Friday efurryone and now onto the cats....

Daddy has become a volunteer at our local Safe Animal Shelter. This past Tuesday he helped out by taking some of the animals to the Vet for treatment. He was upset because when he got to the Shelter some kind soul had left two baby kittens under a birdcage by the front door. They were so tiny and scared. He was very worried about what was going to happen to them. But, they took them in and he said that they were back in the back where the kittens live, they were isolated until they could be taken to the Vet for a through check up. We hope that they both find a good forever home...the poor babies and we can't help but wonder what happened to their Mom? We'll never know, but our hearts go out to all of those in need of a forever home.

Finally Friday

Abby: oooo that mysterious door is opening.....
Abby: I can't wait to get into this room!

And neither can Jinx or Gracie.

There is always a mad dash to come into the Master Bedroom. We normally keep everyone out because someone (whose name starts with a "P") liked to spray the bed skirt. Boo has always had unlimited access to this room and she will ask to be let in before we leave for work each morning. Boo is so sensitive, and we have found that the other cats will pick on her if we don't let her in the bedroom. She also has her own 'private' litterbox in there and many times she wants to use that box and she will ask to be let in so she can go in and just use the box and come right back out. Abby knows that she is allowed in after dinner. I always sit with her in my lap in the over sized chair and Boo sits on the back of the chair looking out and when she is ready she slips down and lays right beside me. Unfortunately, Abby isn't always accomodating and she will whap whap whap at Boo to get her to move. So, they have trained me to distract them with treats and finally I can get them both to lay still for awhile until it all starts again.

Finally Friday: Momma's Heavy Heart

Abby:
Momma has been feeding a group of feral cats. They have settled into a nice area in between where Momma buys her food stuffs and a Vet office. There is a colony of about a dozen who are well fed and tended to by a gaggle of beans. Just a few weeks ago Momma noticed that one of the female tortie Manxies was pregnant. Then two weeks ago just by happenstance Momma came across her four little kittens. They were all plump and cute and just adorable. Momma got pictures of them with her cell phone, and if she can figure out how to get them off of her phone she will post them. But all of the cuties were Manxies. One was a tuxie Manxie. Momma picked this little baby up and was contemplating bringing him/her home. She really wanted to but she was afraid that the kitten was too young to be away from it's true Mama. She held onto to him/her for nearly an hour before she decided that it was best for him or her to stay with his/her siblings and Mama. When she stopped by last week, she found no evidence of the babies, and feels that Mama tucked them safely away. She always knew that in all likelyhood she would never have another chance at that little tuxedo manx and she has mixed feelings in her heart. She hopes she did the right thing. I just don't see how she could have brought one more kitty into the our tribe, can you imagine 6 of us?

Finally Friday

Momma was laughin at me. I only drink from the faucet, not that bowl the other cats drink from. In fact I have taught Momma a new trick. She can't take picture of me when I am doing my new trick though, because I make her cup her hands and I drink outta of them. I only do that in the bathrooms though because the faucet is too far away for me to reach. But, let me tell you why Momma was laughin at me. The other day she was filling up the dish where the other cats drink from and I was curious about what she was doing. So, she showed me the dish. I dunked my head into it and nearly drowned. Now why didn't she tell me that there was a buncha water in there? She watched me and let me put my head right into the water and snork up a whole bunch of waters into my nose and whiskers! I made all kinds of weird noises, and who wouldn't if you wuz drowin? Then you know what; she laughed at me! Umfgh...the indignity of it all! I showed her later though, I left her a nice little surprise, you know what I mean. Better watch where you step Momma...we'll see who laughs next!
