Meet The Manx Part 2

In a galaxy far far away ... Abby's blog began with this post on August 15, 2005. I introduced you to my  special girl, not even knowing then how very special she would become. Below the first (& very bad -- MOL) picture I posted and a small biography.
This is about my Abby. Abby is a 6 year old miniature tuxedo manx. She is quite a colorful character and a true joy to our lives. Abby was given up for adoption because she was too affectionate, and she needed attention her former owners didn't feel equipped to give. She is a very loyal loving little girl. She is only 4 1/2 pounds. Abby was adopted into our household of 4 other cats. She is transitioning into her new surroundings, which she is finding challenging. She has become the alpha cat by asserting herself to the other cats. She has two adopted sisters, Boo who is a 1 1/2 year old tuxedo kitty, Gracie is a 6 month old tan and black tabby, her two adopted brothers are Ping, who is a red Tabby and finally Jinx who is a grey tabby.

 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

This is Annabelle. Annabelle is a 16 month old calico manx. She has a very quiet character and is a true joy to add back into our lives. Annabelle was turned over to the ACA and chosen by Ana's Angels, a rescue group located here in Northern Florida. She has already had one litter of kittens and my only knowledge of them is that one of them was adopted prior to Annabelle. Annabelle's name at the rescue was Fritizie. I could not let that stand. She is a delicate girl and very much a  girly girl and she needed a girly girl name and she looked like an Annabelle to me. Annabelle is just a tad over 6 pounds. Which I honestly now believe Abby was too. Annabelle just like Abby, is being adopted into our household of 4 others, now senior cats. She is transitioning into her surroundings. She has two sisters, Boo who is now 10 and Gracie who is 9 1/2. Her two brothers Ping and Jinx will be 11 in a very short time. So she will be the youngster around a bunch of senior catizens! She is very affectionate and has the teeniest meow. She is a ground dweller and she likes to go underneath things. She is very shy. I am struck by the complete contrast from Abby's transition. Abby was so mad and angry when I brought her home because she was in a home and in her eyes she wanted to go back to that home. I think, I can say, speaking for her now, that she got a pretty good deal out of that very humble beginning. IN fact, I think she would tell you that she found her true home when she came to live with me. I know it was meant to be that she and I were together. Annabelle has a very different scenario. She was a castaway and little is known about her background. I know that as we get to know each other we will each learn new and different aspects of our personalities. I did immediately take her to the Vet and had everything checked. The only thing that came back was some elevations in her bloodwork that indicated a parasite infection. She had been scratching, although no fleas were found and her fecal test was negative. I am still a bit concerned but waiting to see how it all plans out. Other than that she is 100% healthy. I must tell you watching her play and jump and run is something I had not seen in a very long time from Abby and it illustrates to me how slowed down Abby was, unbeknownst to my eyes at the time. My journey with Abby will never be over, she is as much a part of me as breathing. But a new journey is beginning with Annabelle and I am so glad to have a Manx back in the house. I hope Abby is smiling from Heaven. I still love you to the Moon and back Abby, and I always will.

Now please meet the Manx....

Isn't she a beauty?

A teeny tiny calico girl.

What do you think you are doing there lady?

I think my Photography skills have gotten better thanks to all Abby taught me. Annabelle is not sure what that clicky black box is that is being shoved into her face and she runs if I take too many pictures, but I think in time she will adjust because that camera and I are joined at the hip. I will share more of the back story about Annabelle in her next post.

3 Years Ago Today...

This is how it all began : Meet The Manx along with this picture. This was one of the very first pictures I ever took of Abby. Abby was the inspiration behind the blog. In fact the quest to find Abby was what started me down the path of journaling. I kept a journal (prior to blogging) about my search for Abby, and I kept it daily for the two months prior to beginning this blog(which was when Abby came into our lives). I didn't know anything about blogging and I didn't know that there were even other cat bloggers out there. (Like duhr...)I first found Avram from New Cat City and I miss that he isn't posting as often as he once did. He certainly loves those two boys of his. Then I discover Laurence and Friday Cat Blogging. But it wasn't until we found the CB did we finally felt at home. It has been a wonderful magical journey with all of you and this three (THREE -- can you believe it?) has flown by. Thank you for your friendship and thank you for the all the joys knowing all of you...and now we look forward to year 4 and beyond.
