Remembering Michael

Like A Comet

Blazing 'Cross The Evening Sky
Gone Too Soon

This is how I best remember Michael Jackson.
A young handsome man with immeasurable talent. Somewhere along the way so much changed. All the promise that was once so close is now forever gone.

Like A Rainbow
Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon

I clearly remember OFF THE WALL and especially THRILLER. At this moment I still recall the night MTV showed the THRILLER video for the first time -- WOW! It was unlike anything I had ever seen. I can also recall that special moment on MOTOWN 25 when Michael came out and did his infamous "moonwalk". The glove, the white socks and loafers. What a magical performer! I saw the Jacksons in concert back in the 80's where they filled (over 80,000 people per show) what was then called the Gator Bowl for several performances! Of course I sat way up in the far corners of the stadium but it was still magical. I am so glad I was able to see one live performance.

Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright
Here One Day
Gone One Night

When the "media" is through picking over the threads of his life, what I hope is left is a sense of the magic and wonder of the music that he created. How he changed the musical landscape 25 years ago with THRILLER. What is ironic to me is having recently begun a work out routine and I found that working out to Michael's music was inspiring (and the beat helped me kick it up a notch)...so here 20+ years later this music sounds as relevant as it did when it was first released. One song in particular has helped encourage me onward...

I'm starting with the(wo) man in the mirror
I'm asking(her) him to change(her) his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change

Change indeed. That's what I am seeking. My favorite Michael Jackson recording is MAN IN THE MIRROR. So relevant to me, and sadly I wish it had been to him. I wish he had been able to find the missing pieces in his life and make them whole. It is so acutely sad to see the seeds of self destruction take a life decades sooner than it should have. Whatever demons you could not conquor in this life, Michael I hope you are able to find peace now wherever you are. Your magic on stage will be missed. It is ironic you will never have the comeback you needed, but your legacy will live on forever in your music .

Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon

Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon

Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon

Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like A Sunset
Dying With The Rising Of The Moon
Gone Too Soon

Gone Too Soon

Good bye Michael...
