Mamas Cup

Please take a moment to visit our dear friend Mario Mom's Blog Shuffling Along. She has allowed us to guest post on her blog today!

Many years ago my Grandmother gave this small amber colored glass cup to me. I recall she told me that it belonged to my Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandmother. Recently while doing a complete over due cleaning I picked this cup up to dust and saw that on the bottom she had written this information on the bottom. The writing is hers and it brought her back to life for me for a brief moment. The lettering is fading and I knew I needed to try and in some ways keep in for posterity sake, so I took photos of it hoping that it would appear like magic. Believe me if you were to look at the small piece of tape she used the words are nearly impossible to see but with some work and a bit of photo magic the words and her handwriting are there.

Mama passed away August 13,2002.
I wish now I could ask her a bit more about this.
I wish I could talk to her again.

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant.

  1. WOW - that is gorgeous and a real keepsake. It's good you found it before it got lost in the shuffle. Outstanding job of getting the writing to pop out too. Maybe an antique store could give you some clues as to where it was made.

  3. Mumsy to the Kwee Cats here. I sure do understand. Some days, I'd give almost anything to get to talk to Daddy. Thank you for thinking of me and for the purrs, so very dear to me. And yes, I am loving my iPad :-)

    Thank you.

  5. It is lovely, and a real treasure from your past. can you imagine your great great +++ gramma drinking from this cuppie? It is good to hang on to things that represent our personal past. This cup probably tells you something about your gramma, just about the beautiful things she treasured. :-)

big bonks, but not near that glass, I promise
