My heart and prayers go out to the people affected by the tornados that struck Greensburg, KS this weekend. Along with the torn lives, so many animals were affected as well. Here is a brief article about animals that are being found.

5-7-07 - More than 163 animals have been found alive in Greensburg, and the state of Kansas has stepped in to help volunteers reunite pets with owners. Officials set up a shelter in Greensburg on Monday to help the lost and injured animals.

Many animals were originally sent to shelters all over Kansas, including several dogs who ended up in Valley Center.

On Monday afternoon, the State Animal Health Department officially set up a temporary shelter for cats and dogs at the KDOT grounds in Greensburg, complete with a vet and triage unit. Meanwhile roaming livestock will be held at the auction house in Pratt.
