From the 1980's to 2009! Erasing nearly 30 years off the walls literally.
Well as my luck would have it, the wall paper glue which was designed especially for vinyl to vinyl adhesion was not working on this wall paper and the installer only had a small amount of "regular" glue, so this is as far as he got today. About an hour into the project he was done for the day. He'll be back at 8AM tomorrow, so I am sure he will get the rest of it up, if he doesn't run out. Then he explained that the border can't go up until the paper is completely set, which means a Monday finish.
Well the other installers also came for the ceiling repair. It's still wet in this picture. But, I am afraid that the entire ceiling may require spraying. *sigh* I HOPE NOT. For what he promised me would not be messy -- WAS! I had popcorn (and I don't like popcorn, but the whole house is done that way, so it would've looked funny to have one room without, so we just opted to stay with it) everywhere. I was so afraid it was going to get all over the wallpaper's installers tools. I did use my own plastic tarp to cover all of his stuff so I think that everything is OK. Slowly but surely it's starting to fall into place. I just hope the kitties stay off of the table the wallpaper installer set up. I can just hear a bing bang boom in the middle of the night coming...
