Tummy Aches

Late last night, Abby woke me up with a jolt. She tore off across the bed and had me up and to my feet from a dead sleep in 2 seconds flat. I am accustomed to her "call of the trots". I thought she needed out -- which she did, but me in my sleep induced state did not register that her trots had already occurred on my blanket. Hate to admit this, but I didn't see anything (well what can I one see in the dark) and only upon Boo waking me up at 6:30AM did I find Abby had left me her calling card. So I went out to find her on the back of the sofa. She barely raised her head and I saw more evidence of a very bad night. She did not feel good at all. After cleaning up every spot that needed attention, I tried to bring her some food. She would not eat. She would not drink. I finally managed to get her to lick some wet food off of my fingertips. Then I got her to drink some water. She stayed completely still on the back of the sofa until I came to her and took her in my lap. She sat only for a brief while and then she got up and went on her own to the water bowl and got a good drink. Back to the sofa. I watched her all afternoon and let her sleep. Then when it seemed like normal dinnertime I tried to get her to eat again. She would only lick the wet food off my fingertips, but she did eat one treat. If she is not better in the morning, I am afraid I will have to take her to the vet which I do not want to do as it will be so upsetting to her. She is now purring at my touch and she is more "with it", but she is still preferring to take it easy on the back of the sofa...please keep her in your purrs.
