Tuxie Toosday With Angel Abby

Please consider lighting one of Abby's candles.
Here: Abby's Candles
c.June 2005

I could not believe I had taken these pictures in 2005.
But the date stamp doesn't fib.

Abby always got up with me while I prepared myself for work.
One morning I had this string and she was fascinated with it.
So I attached it to the back of bathroom door.
And the rest as they say is history!

She had a ball with it, many many times.

You just think I want that Momma!

HA fooled you!

She is just too adorable!!
Now you want to know the rest of the story?
That string is still hanging on the back of the bathroom door.
Until they take me out of this house, I will leave it there.
And remember.
I retired in 2009, so getting ready in the this bathroom became a moot point. I know Abby didn't played with that string after 2009. But this will always be a lovely memory. At some point I will show you our other string game that we played. She was so cute to watch as she scampered around with her roly poly Manxie body. Well, you know I think she was adorably cute all the time.
Even to this moment Abby girl.
Momma loves you baby
to the MOON
and back
and again.

Sunday we took Boo on a prearranged trip to the ER. The same ER that Abby was in. Boo had to have a special test and they were able to process it on site and it was simply easier for our Vet who was on call and for us. What I didn't expect was the overwhelming punch in the gut memories to flood all over me. We had to wait to be seen as there were several people ahead of us. The first couple who were in the back when we came in reminded me of the first time I had to leave Abby overnight. I could see the tear stained worry in the Mom's face and I watched as they let them go back and say goodbye (for the night I assumed) and I remembered, oh goodness how I remembered, doing that with Abby. I saw two men sitting with a very young, but injured orange tabby who reminded me of a young Ping. I saw them go in with their kitty, but they didn't leave with him. I was afraid to ask. There were several couples there with sick and elderly dogs and I saw the hurt, the fear, the sadness. All those things that are universal to pawrents who share that gut wrenching feeling of confusion and heartache. I was so glad to be able to go home with our baby Boo. Hopeful for her, but so many who come to the ER don't have that luxury of going home again. How well I remember.

Boo ionized calcium testing shows a true high elevation in her calcium level. We now have to have further blood work done to eliminate certain conditions. This will take some time to get back from the lab. So I won't know results once we do the blood tests for a few weeks. Also wanted to let everyone know our Daddy is going in for Surgery mid-October, so we can already see that October is shaping up to be a very busy month.

  1. Oh dear. What a lot you have going on. I hope that whatever Boo has that she will be okay. Purrs to you. And that toy looks like a lot of fun. I want a string toy on my door!

  2. It must have been so hard to be at that ER. I'm sending lots of purrs to Boo and I hope that whatever is going on with her is easily treatable.

  3. Fine memory of Abby.
We send our purrs to Boo and purr very hard that she will be OK.
    Purrs Tillie and Georgia,
    Treasure,Tiger, JJ and Julie

  4. The memories will never fade... We know cuz TBT talks about Skeeter an LC an even old Tinkerbelle a lot.

  5. Hoping sweet Boo's results come back ok.

    big hugs xoxo

  6. Being back in the ER must have been really tough. The head peep was fortunate, in a way, that the next time she was at the pet ER after losing a cat there she was so busy with the cat on her hands that she couldn't stop to have those kinds of memories. We're all purring for Boo and hope that he feels better soon. You sure have your hands full right now!

  7. I can only imagine what you felt like... I am so sorry you had to return so soon.... hang in there

  8. Lighted a candle. Sending purrs, lotsa purrs for boo.

  9. The older pics of Abby are great, it's wonderful to see them.

Purrs and purrayers for Boo and for your husband--and you too, Debra.

    Peace and Blessings.

  10. What sweet memories of Abby playing with the string. Cute pics!

I really hope if Boo does have any condition, they'll find it and it will be easy to treat. I can imagine how hard it was to be at the ER vet. It's hard to be there no matter what but then to have all those memories.

So sorry your husband has to have surgery! I hope that goes well.

  11. We are purring for Boo and hope her results come through soon. We feel for you at the emergency surgery as it must have brought unhappy memories to you.

We will pray for your husband's surgery to go well and for you all to have something to smile for.

Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

  12. I 100% agree leave the string there...as I can see you visualizing Abby playing and it will put a smile on your face.

Oh dear Give your sweet Dad a hug from us and wish him a successful and speedy recovery.
Hugs madi and mom your bfffs

  13. Abby! Darling Abby. Such sweet pictures.

I live next door to a ER vet and seeing folks over there during their emergency hours always makes me sad. I still have a hard time going back into the same exam room where my sweet Max was put down and I saw him for the last time.

I hope Boo and and Daddy will be alright!

  14. We don't know what can happen if a kitty has elevated calcium, so we hope that Boo will end up being fine. So sorry you had to return to the ER Vet. We know the feelings oh so well. We loved all those photos of Abby. Your string is like the collars with name tages from our previous kitties which Mom has scattered around the house.

We have nominated you for an award. We hope that you don't already have it. The details are on our most recent post. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at www.thecatonmyhead.com, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  15. I have a pawprint on a tile that I'll never scrape off. I know how it is with the string.

All of us are sending positive vibes for Miss Boo--hopefully you'll have some answers soon.

  16. That is such a good idea to leave that string there as a reminder of how much fun Abby had with it.
We sure hope Boo's blood results come back all alright. We all have our paws crossed for Boo. Take care.

  17. We sure miss that beautiful Abby and we stopped by and lit another candle. Purrs to Miss Boo from all of us.

  19. That's a really nice memory of Abby and the string. :)

We are purring for Boo, and for your husband, that both of them will be okay. We also send purrs and prayers of strength, love and comfort to you, Debra.

  20. I have Bobo's PTU in the closet, just the way he left it in 2007. I never let Cody use it and I can't bring myself to part with it.
Sending prayers and purrs for BOO.

  21. We are sending healing purrs and pawsitive light for Boo's Daddy and Boo we knows you are worried about them both.

  22. I'm sorry - it is hard rush of memories and we are purring for Boo and your Daddy!

  23. Those are lovely pictures of Abby. I know what you mean about going back to the vet with Boo.Flynn had cystitis about a month after Eric passed, and it was very hard going back to the vet's surgery. I hope Boo's results come back good. I have you and your husband in my thoughts.
I am sorry I haven't replied to your email. I haven't forgotten but haven't had enough time to reply yet but will do so as soon as I get chance.

  24. Boo daring, Mom and I will absolutely purr for you. We know exactly what it's like for you and your mommy. And blessings on your daddy when he has his surgery and on Mommy who is trying so hard to be strong. And she will be with her Lord's help.

  25. Purring for all of you at this tumultuous time. (((hugs)))

  26. TW would be scared to leave a long string up that I'd strangle myself while she was gone. MOL! Humans! Do you have any video of Abby and the string?

  27. That string on the door is a good memory...the kind that makes you smile. :)

We're purring for Boo and hope whatever is going on is easily treatable.

  28. That is a sweet memory of Abby and the string and hard memories of the ER for sure. We will be keeping Dad and Boo in our thoughts and prayers.

  29. We will purr for Boo and Daddy too.

Our Dad used to work in the ER and ICU. He remembers the families that came in with their loved ones and thinks to how it is just the same for our furs who are such a part of our families.
He then made the transition to being the one who had many coming to see.

We need to give as much as we can every day to those we love as there may not be as many as we would like there to be.
Love from all of us here at the Tomcat

  30. Sending purrs and prayers for Miss Boo and for Daddy too! x0x

We always love hearing from you please leave some pawprints!
Happy purrs
