Why Photography is Important
Whether you are a pro, amateur
or hobby photography. No matter if you have a fancy DSLR, point and
shoot, or a Smartphone. Please remember that the photographs you take
are important, regardless of the quality or what you took them with.
Do not wait, act now!
Is there someone in
your life, a family member or pet, that is elderly or sick? Get on the
phone, hop in the car, do what you need to do to make this happen and go
photograph them!! As soon as possible.
Never Enough
I thought I had enough photographs of Abby. Even though I have over 50,000 pictures of the cats taken over 8 years that is not a lot. It may sound like it, but it really isn't. Now that I look back over my photo files I wish I had taken more. Lots more. But, I can't undo what's already been done, and sadly I cannot take one more picture of my beloved Abby.
Photography records history – records life!
The memories the photographs I have are a record, a legacy. They are precious and made ever so more meaningful to me because I simply cannot get anymore. You'll never regret having more, so take out that camera and snap away. You're making memories and they will be as precious to you as mine are to me.
You do know that all the cats who hate flashy boxes are crying don't you? If only we didn't have a camera...
ReplyDeleteI agree you can never capture enough life memories..i recently found a card given to me by my hubby..from the pets..all three cats and one doggie had their paw prints in it (from dreaded Aussie Vegemite) i was so pleased to find it as all have since gone to the rainbow bridge..i could see their paw prints and touch them ..hugs Foziemum xxx
ReplyDeleteWe could not agree more. (although we have to admit, a camera with the ability to bounce the flashy thing UP instead of in our eyes is worth it!)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. When Whisky first came into my life, I didn't have a digital camera. The photos I have of her then are so limited. Even less of those of my heart bunny, Looppy.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the prices of DSLR and their accessories have come down to cater to the masses.
MOL at Chey! I have to say, I totally agree with her - there are way too many photos of me already! Do there really have to be more? **sigh**
ReplyDeleteI do agree as well, even with all the tens of thousands of cat pics I have as well.
ReplyDeleteIn my case, I don't want to see pics of Annie when she was in her decline and then just before she died. They upset me, that's not how I want to remember her.
And in the end, the photos matter only to us. When we, in turn, die, they won't matter to anyone else.
That doesn't stop me from snapping the same pics of the cats, over and over, though. :-)
That is so true, it is important to get pictures of your family and animals. It sure is a good way to look back on with many memories. Hope all of you have a super day.
ReplyDeleteTruth! I take tons and always wish I had more!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day! big hugs xoxo
I so agree… I have so many pictures of Alex and still wish for more. I am quickly trying to snatch as many of lucy as possible
ReplyDeleteOh, so true. I just wish I took better pictures and had a better camera but having the memories is the important part. Abby was such a beautiful photography subject.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're all having a nice Sunday!
We MOLed at Chey's response.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. No matter how many photos (or videos!) we have, it later doesn't feel like enough.
Also very important: back them up! A friend of ours lost photos of one of his late cats, and he said it was like having her die all over again. Use offsite storage, even if it's just burning them to quality DVD media, putting them in sleeves, and asking a friend to keep them in his closet.
The peep is always tryin' to get pictures of me. I am always resisting, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
I totally agree too so we all tolerate that flashy monster!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I worked in a camera store, I spent a lot of time explaining to people that out of focus/blurred shots were not "worthless". Pictures are memories, frozen in time. That blurry image helps bring back a moment, a memory, that matters. Today I'll be stalking various minions with the high powered flashy box. :)
ReplyDeleteoui les photos sont très précieuses.
ReplyDeleteMum agrees - there are never enough pictures of us and so the number just grows and grows.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
You are so right. when we started blogging Madi was 7....imagine my surprise when I realized I didn't have many pictures of her first 7 years....mainly what I had was her first year. Mainly because I did not have a digital.....now I think I can safely say I have made up for last time...and also most important is
ReplyDeletepictures of the humans with the furbabies!! Very precious.
Hugs Madi your BFFF
So true! I just came across a photo of my ginger tabby from 20 years ago and I only have 3 photos of her. T have tons of Merlin but wish I'd taken more when he was younger. Now with digital, we have no excuse.
ReplyDeleteI agree...and it's important to keep up with the format they are stored in...we lost too many digital pix of our cats when the discs (remember those?) got tossed.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true.
ReplyDeleteI have done much over many years but most has no record except my memories. Today I make sure I photo every holiday.
Thanks
Dad Pete
That is the absolute truth! I wish digital cameras had been around far earlier as I have too few photos of Eric and Flynn pre 2005, and very few of the cats who came before.
ReplyDeleteyou are absolutely right! I have TONS of photos of my Angel Bobo, some are framed, some are just in boxes. I need to save more of Cody and Dakota.
ReplyDeleteThe Staff totally agrees with you! Me? Not so much!!! MOL
ReplyDeleteYes of course you are right! xoxoxox
I agree. We do not have near enough of (film) pics of precious Robin. And not near enough of Hopping John, Francis, and Excalibur. Barely enough of Admiral..working on Katie's.
ReplyDeleteI must say that is as beautiful a picture of your baby as I have EVER seen posted here.
So true. I have very few of Scooby.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mom is going to have the camera in her face when I visit in a couple weeks. She 92.
We fully agree! No matter how many photos you have, there is never enough.
ReplyDeleteY'know, as much as we hate having our pictures taken, we understand how important this is to our mom. Maybe we'll stop complaining so much.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, the Human comes form a non-picture taking family and until the blog she almost never took pictures. She is totally in the minority on this topic! She has a couple (seriously, like maybe 2) of each of the Kitties Who Came Before, and really not very many of her family or friends. She has more pictures of ME than she's ever had of everything in her life put together in the past 63 years, MOL. In some ways, it's too bad, she thinks, but in another way she knows all the people and kitties live in her heart and memory anyway, pictures or not.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence...I just left a comment on Benny & Lily's blog about the very same thing. It's all those reasons you describe that photography is so very important to us too. It's the record of our lives.
