The Rainbow Bridge
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

We are sorry for Yoko's family and furiends who will surely miss her now and always. XOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know Yoko until recently. We're sending gentle headbumps to her family.
ReplyDeleteI was so sorry to see this yesterday and I went over then to pay my respects. Such a sad time for her humans. :-(
ReplyDeleteOur purrs for Yoko!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was so very sorry hear this and did leave a note for them. I know how much her family must miss her and I'm so sorry for them.
ReplyDeleteWe were sure to pay our respects to Yoko's family yesterday. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteYou are right that losing a family member like that is especially hard at the holidays. This year marks eight years since Cyrano died the day after Christmas, and the tree is now always put away promptly that day in his memory.
We're so sad that Yoko had to run to the Bridge. We stopped by as soon as we heard to offer purrs, prayers and condolenced to her family.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Yoko is gone but never ever forgotten by her sibs and her People.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty angel. I'm sure Abby was waiting to greet her too.
Hugs madi your bfff
Thank you so much for this lovely tribute to our dear Yoko. It has been a long cold foggy weekend and I miss her sweet face. I have not decorated the tree even - my heart is not in it. I am glad I put it up and put lights on it for her. We sat with her looking at the lights the evening before she left us.

I am sad at Yoko's passing and am purring for her family.
ReplyDeleteI have been by. I know how hard it is as Herman left me last November, just before his Gotcha Day, which was close to Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear about Yoko. The mom lost one of the cats that came before us just before Christmas...it was a very sad holiday for her.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorryt hear about Yoko and had left a message. We wanted to thank you for your words f comfort when our cat Megat went to the bridge. It has taken us some time to get around to thanking everyone but know that we treasured each thought.
ReplyDeleteWe were so sad to hear about Yoko. It's so hard to lose a kitty anytime...but especially during the holidays.
ReplyDelete(((purrs)))
How neat you highlighted Yoko's lovely eyes. Her mom will appreciate your post.
ReplyDeleteWe just ache for them. We lost Ryker around this time and it is NOT fun - not at all. As you know, there is no good time to lose a loved one. Purring for them....
