Thankful Thursday In the Garden

Annabelle joins the family in checking out the wonders of the outdoors as she piers out her window.

This gives a little perspective on what window she is looking out of.

Beautiful camellias in serious bloom!

The deep red leaves of a Japanese Maple.

Back lit against the smallest burst of the sun's ray.

We know our Florida garden is different than many others in different growing zones and we are very fortunate, and gratefully so, for our mild winter weather. We mostly keep green all year long, and we still have a variety of things that bloom all year thorough like our knockout roses which Mom complains about trimming all the time. (It had grown up to about 6 foot tall. I had some serious trimming to do) But the upside is our landscape stays fairly intact all year. We do get minor freezes that usually only last a night or two. So in the winter we are lucky and in the summertime we must watch for Hurricanes. We all have weather that we must be on guard for. But we hope this January you are still thankful for your Garden whether it's snow covered or grass covered.

  1. As we look out on a dead an dreary yard, it is good to see things blooming somewhere! The flowers and red leafs help us wait until Spring comes again here...

  3. Good post. Our Mommy forgot to remember how beautiful the ice can really be.

    Your camellias are beautiful.

  4. We live in a country where the weather is constantly summer (hot AND humid) and thunderstorms during the monsoon season. Even so, Mommy still manages to kill our garden. *shakes head*

We hope Annabelle is feeling better!

  5. We are impressed that you manage to find things that bloom year round! The things we have that make flowers year round are just cold-shy that they can't handle the recent cold snaps. Your garden is full of such amazing colors!

  6. I'd almost kill, figuratively speaking, for green grass and flowers in bloom right now. Here everything is covered by sheets of ice, the worst time of year for me. So it's especially lovely to stop by your garden posts and feed my soul, in a small way. :-)

  13. That garden is very pretty.
Having snow on the ground, it makes us smile to see all the pretty flowers and trees in your yard.
We bet Annabelle loves looking out her window.
While it is cold with the snow, we
do embrace our 4 seasons and need
to explore the ways of taking pictures to show the beauty of
    each one :)
    A thankful Thursday indeed!

  15. I am just catching up with you, and I finally added you to my blog list (!) - better late than never! I'm so happy to meet Annabelle. She's a beauty. I went back to read some older posts so I could read about her story. I also read about your reading with Dee. Very interesting. I love her analogy of water and the spirit.
Please know that I am so touched by your grief for Abby, and your many odes to her. I know how certain pets can take a special hold on your heart.

  23. Annabella has the cutest little tocks. And how lucky to be looking out on something green and beautiful. Spring cannot come soon enough for us. Mom was just talking about how the wooly caterpillars really got it right this year…cold, frigid, excruciating. 24. Your garden is lovely! We have our garden inside this time of year--my geraniums are still blooming, as are the begonias! When the leaves fall and the snow flies we can see the birds just that much better. Hope Annabell is feeling better!
