UPDATE:
We had a very "interesting" 4TH.
At around 4:45pm the power went off.
We had had severe thunderstorms hours earlier, but at the time
the storms had passed and it was all clear.
the storms had passed and it was all clear.
The power stayed off.
And off...
and off!
We hooked up the generators to run some fans
and our water. As our water is connected to an
artisan well, which has a pump which in turns needs
electricity.
We grilled our dinners outdoors.
We waited.
It got dark.
VERY dark.
Finally 6 hours later the power came back on.
A 70' pine tree fell onto the transmission lines
in the middle of a swampy area.
So on a HOLIDAY weekend they had
to dispatch repairmen to the hard to get to scene.
HALF of my town (which is small) was out of power.
So even though we were planning a quiet 4TH, I know
a lot of others weren't. So there was our 4TH, one I
won't forget in awhile.

ReplyDeleteAnnabelle, you look so cute in your selfie! I like your wide-eye expression. I hope you had a quiet 4th.
ReplyDeleteWere you bothered by the fireworks?
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy you had generators for fans and for your water! Hope the noises were not too bad. And hope it was not too hot and the fans helped.
ReplyDeleteUGH! But at least you got your dinners on the grill...yum. However mommy sued to live in FL. Palm Bay and she had both artesian and shallow wells. The artesian was very sulphury tasting and the shallow very lime rock tasting. Nothing like LONNNNNNG power outages. xoxo
ReplyDeleteDid you see Pings...um...well, his um...tail again?

And I thought you would have suffered from fireworks. Must have been a very special 4th of July !
ReplyDeleteWell that stinks, that you lost your power. It is amazing how hard it is o lose power. Glad you made it through all that all right. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteIt's never fun to lose electricity. Glad yours is back on. And we can all be thankful for those hard-working guys who respond to such calls 24/7, can't we!
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds unpleasant! Mom HATES losing power.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a 4th of July you don't want to remember. That is a cute selfie Annabelle.
ReplyDeleteGood grief! What a 4th of July you had!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Hi Sweetie - that is one very adorable selfie that you have. How awful to be without power for 6 hours. M would hate it too. She says there is nothing to do in the dark - can't read very well with flash lights, can't do anything. We're happy it's up and running again.
ReplyDeleteThat stinks- I am glad you had generators though.
ReplyDeleteOh meow gawjus so glad y'all were safe. Sowry 'bout da lectwicity but glad yous all had a generator. And at least yous didn't have to put up wiff lot of fire boomers. MOL Have a blest day.

I love your image in the flag, Annabelle! Hope you had a better day today.
ReplyDeleteDang, no power = now fun. We sure are glad you have your power back on.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you have power again! We have had that happen and it is not fun at all!
ReplyDeleteWow quite an adventure - right? A tree? and those guys working on the holiday?
ReplyDeleteLosing power is no fun! We're glad it's back for you now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your power back on, we are so dependent on that. We live rurally and evfurry thing needs electricity, even the toilet...at least for the water...and even the phones.
ReplyDeleteUm...but we too have a generator.
Your selfie is great, and a powerful eye-catcher! (pun intended)
Annabelle, what a pretty selfie. We sure can understand not liking the fireworks. From our apartment in Jersey City, we can hear and see some of the fireworks. Because we are far enough away, they aren't that loud; so for us more interesting than scary. Z-Girl says if we were closer we'd all be afraid. Good thing you have a basement. We have to go under the bed or in a closet to escape the things we fear! Sorry you were without electricity. That's always a bummer...hope today is a better day! Peace. ReplyDeletedarling selfie!
ReplyDeleteThat was quiet a pawty...NOT! At least you're still looking beautiful, Annabelle :) Pawkisses :) <3
ReplyDeleteDoes your little town do fireworks? If so, it seems like a good time for the power to go out, but that was a lot of time to be off during this hot and humid weather. Glad all is back to normal now. Thanks so much for being a part of our Blog Hop. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
