Caturday Art

Annabelle is joining the lovely Athena
for this week's
blog hop!

***
If you have FB, you may have seen
where I had to file a police report because
my back door on my screen porch,
was cut and torn.
Both the policeman and I were torn about
whether it was done by a cat.
But, after calming down after all the hoopla
with filing the report and taking a closer look
I can guarantee you that it was an animal
alright and not the furry kind.

***
Yesterday morning, I had just come in from
feeding the outside
cats and the indoor cats.
It was time for the indoor kitties
to go out on the porch.
Now mind you when I opened up the sliding glass
door to let them out
 I didn't see anything amiss.
That for me is important.
So I opened the door and Annabelle goes out.
I head back inside to go and pour a cup of coffee
and I look back towards the open sliding glass
door and I see something odd. From where
I stood it looked like the screen had puckered.
My first thought went to how did that just
happen? So I went out and looked at it closer
and to my eyes it looked like it had been cut.
It is on the upper portion of the screen door
and the spot that was open was right next to
the small hook latch. The hook latch was installed
many years ago because the original door latch
broke. That hook latch was now out of round eye of
the hook and eye.
Later on I found the piece of the hook and
eye device on the floor, so that told me
that it was a human.

So today I spent all day trying to make myself
feel as safe as one could. I had to repair the door
because it was about an 18 x 12 opening
and we have bugs here in Florida. I did set up
the camera for the patio and a few other
things and tried to secure the door as best I
could. I've been planning on redoing
the screens on the porch because in the 20+
years they've been up, they've seen much
better days. So now I'll have to replace the door
too. Just one more thing to do.

Never a dull moment.
But I sure could use some.

  1. My human did see on Facebook - that's really scary! That is one kind of feral you don't want around your house. I hope this one never returns. Please be safe.

  3. It is an awful thing to see that anyone has been tampering with the doors to the house. I have had one such occurrence a few years back and had evidence some had been under my deck and around my home looking through wonders as well. Annabelle, you looked fab in Mr. Jinx's bow tie!

  9. Geez, that is scary, especially for a human living alone. Take every precaution you can.

  10. Oh, MY. That would have been way too scary. Hope this thwarted perpetrator of this mission of horror, will not EVER try again.
Praying for your safety and for peace in your heart, too. It takes a long time to get rid of that feeling of being violated...I know it too well myself...once from a failed break-in when I was single, and a few years ago when we had a home invasion:(
