OH to be a cat

Oh to have the life of a cat!

***

It's been a bit of a mess here.
Florida is well known for it's tropical climate.
Ha!
Let's call that for what it is....
we're a humid hot sweaty place.
Temps have been feeling like 100+.
So Air conditioning isn't a luxury here.
It's a necessity.
The first weekend in June I noticed that the
a/c unit wasn't exacting cooling down.
I was due for my bi-annual maintenance
(we do treat our A/C's like well oiled machines)
but I felt it couldn't wait, so I called
and got a tech to come out.
I wasn't exactly convinced this tech knew what he
was doing, but my Freon was down 3 1/2 pounds.
(10 Lb in the unit)
Obviously there was a leak.
He couldn't find it.
So he gave me some Freon which is expensive
and left. Of course you know it all leaked out.
Called again.
Got another tech, no problem finding the leak.
But it's in the line that is under my concrete
driveway and also under a three foot concrete header in
my garage.
So, of course this tech couldn't fix that.
I tried for 2 1/2 days to talk to the installation manager
(that was the only person who could move this along)
and nothing.
Finally heard that they're coming to do another test to
see if there is any chance they can repair the leak itself
in the ground.
If not, then they have to replace the entire copper pipe
and run in up through my attic and out the side
exterior wall to the AC unit outside.
I have to move all of my racks in my garage so they can get
up in my attic. (Storage)
And it'll be over four figures to fix because of course this
is one of the very few things not covered by the warranty.
Worst of all it's 80+ degrees all the time in house.
I know that's not the worst thing in the world,
but me and cats don't like it one bit.
Not even with multiple fans running in nearly
every room.

So ends my sad tale this month of what went wrong.

Happy Father's Day to all the cat Dads!

  2. That sounds very uncomfortable! I hope they can fix the leak without having to replace everything. We have year round high humidity here but thankfully not the very high temperatures.

  4. Nice selfie. I am sorry about your a/c. I could never live in FL with all that humidity.I can't wait for summer to be over every year.

  5. OH no Debra. I know exactly how you feel. About 6 years ago on a Friday afternoon in early August our A/c went kaput.
It was too late to go to the warehouse for a new unit so we had to spend a very hot weekend w/o a/c. Madi (normally did not like loud noises) but she learned quickly the floor fans were her best friends. Hugs Cecilia

  6. AC is such a pain when t goes awry. Hope the easier fix will be the ticket...and a better fix, too. Sorry you are all having to endure without the needed AC.

  7. That's horrible! Heat is just the worst, and I can't imagine living without AC in Florida :(

  8. I agree, horrible is the word. I sure hope the fix is some easier than it sounds.

  9. Can't it ever be a small thing? Yikes. Dealing with business bureaucracy is as bad as dealing with government bureaucracy...

  10. What a mess! I’m sorry you’re going through all of this but hope the a/c is fixed soon. I know how hot and humid it can be in Florida.
