I don't have photos of Snowie on my computer.
I have some on my phone.
But after several weeks I need to share what
has happened.
***
I know some time I ago I mentioned that a white
cat arrived, unannounced, more likely
abandoned and she smelled the scents of cats
here and well she stayed.
I said I couldn't tell if she was a boy or girl.
Well, she's a GIRL that is for sure.
***
My girl got pregnant.
Yep she became one of the groups of
stragglers. She is very food oriented, and
fluffy. Very fluffy. That is why until she was
about to give birth and I saw how she
was full of milk I didn't know that she
was having kittens.
***
June 17th she had 4.
The Daddy is the same as the Daddy to
Millie & Maize.
It's a long story about where she wanted
to keep them and where I tried to move them
and she was determined to keep them
in an unsafe place.
***
I was doing my best to try and help.
But on the morning of June 24 she was
waiting for me and she hadn't left
her kittens before, so I went to see how
they were doing, and I found the area in
disarray. No kittens.
I looked at Snowie and she had wounds.
***
Sometime during the night of the 23rd,
her kittens were taken.
I can't tell you how devastated that made
me feel. It made me feel awful for her,
she was looking for them.
But they were long long gone.
I don't know for sure what animal attacked
her and took them. But,
I was determined to not let that happen again.
***
I got an appointment to have her spayed on July 8th.
She has done great and she's all healed up
from both the attack and the surgery.
***
I know we all have hard things in our lives.
We just have to buckle up and deal with them.
But some are harder than others.
I didn't know how I was going to deal
with having 4 more mouths to feed
but I was determined to try and find homes
for those kittens.
It was such a gut punch to lose them.
***
Cats do grieve, even shortly.
She knew she lost her babies.
But I was determined not to let that happen again.
I'm so sorry that happened to Snowie. It's terrible, but I am glad you are there for her.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sad story but I am glad you have been able to help Snowie.
ReplyDeleteI know how exactly how you and Snowie feel as the same thing happened to my late Pebble. It was also for the same reason I took in Pebble. Sending lots and lots of purrs and hugs to both you and Snowie!
ReplyDeleteWe hope Snowie will stay with you now. She needs a proper home with a human to look after her. How sad about those little kittens. It was a wise move having her spayed. Feral cats cause lots of problems where I live, in Australia.
ReplyDeleteAwww .... that is so sad - but my heart is full from you helping Snowie!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry...what a devastating finding that had to have been. I'm thankful Snowie is spayed.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
I know you would have fed the new babies when they were ready to accept your food; you would have fed them regardless of the cost. I wish those hungry mouths were still here. Snowie indeed grieves for her babies, but thanks to you, she won't have to grieve any more, nor will she inadvertently add to the homeless cat population. Thank you for looking out for her, and Godspeed, four little Snowie babies.
ReplyDeleteThat is so heartbreaking, and we are so sorry that happened to Snowie. Thank you for caring for her, and loving her. XO
ReplyDeleteHow sad about the babies. I am glad you had her fixed. Is it possible she could live with you or is she too feral? XO
ReplyDeleteSending Snoy purrayers and POwer of the Paw - and for all who care for her too ! Hope she can stay safe near you.
ReplyDeleteThat is very sad, very, I know the feeling. We had one Mama just have 1 kitten a few weeks ago and it didn't make it. The Mama was so very sad. I'm glad you got that sweet girl fixed up.
ReplyDeleteThat's tragic. You did all you could and thank you so much for taking care of her.
ReplyDeleteHow terribly sad! But I’m glad you are taking care of Snowy now and she stays safe.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, that's so sad 💔💔💔sending big hugs, RIP little ones and we hope mummycat is ok.
ReplyDeleteThat would have been so devastating for both you and Snowie. Butt now she is safe from future uncertainties and more 'oopsies'...and she can go on living well. Maybe as your next kitty inside?? At least Snowie will be well cared for, no matter where she lives, as long s she stays there with you.
