None of these images are normal wave activity for our beaches in North Florida.
I can't tell you how windy it was and Irene is still over 400 miles away.
This view WAS not reassuring at all. I just pray that all of those in the direct path of this storm heed the warnings. If you have not been around a storm of this magnitude please pay attention to what the media is saying. Listen to the authorities and if they say evacuated, then do it. These things don't play around. Today as we were on the beach I kept looking at the homes dotted along the shoreline. The homes on our beaches are built right ON the water. I mean there is a small beach and then there is a house. I could see that the main route of A1A would be under water as it was just on the other side of the houses along the water's edge. In fact it was easy to see how the island we were on would be literally under water. I have great fears for what is about to happen.
This is the end of the St Augustine pier that is pictured in the above pictures.
They closed the pier at 3PM today!
It was too unsafe to be on the pier!!
Please everyone BE SAFE!
