A few weeks ago Miss Gemini (Ping's sweetie) had a very good
post about what inspires her to blog. It was a thoughtful posting and I encourage
you to read it if you haven't already.
***
We started off blogging simply as a way to keep some recorded journal of
our daily (or as close to daily as I could come) life.
But, as time has gone on we've seen it become more.
Although, my primary reason is still the same.
I want a record.
I love to take photographs, and all 5 cats are perfect models for me.
***
I don't think a lot of cat bloggers or perhaps bloggers who are new
realize, just as I didn't when I first began, that there is more
to discover as you grow into your blog and into your
friendships.
***
Now I understand there are losses that need to be gently accepted.
It's hard.
For myself, I find I lose a little of my own beloved kitties each time
we have to say farewell. You realize their own fragile life span.
It does make you appreciate them quite a bit more.
Because you just never know.
The little furry love of my life is now 13 and I know her days are shorter
rather than longer and I hold her a bit closer knowing that.
***
But there are other discoveries too.
Some very good, and some not so good.
We all go through them.
Perhaps not feeling accepted or maybe acknowledged.
For me, that's OK.
I was always the rather quiet one who sat back.
Never popular or unpopular.
Just there.
***
Our little blog is the same.
That's OK.
It's for them and me.
It's our memory.
And I will always be grateful to be able to look back.
***
The constraints on my time may ebb and flow,
and I may not be able to get to visit as often as I like,
but I will always try.
I still enjoy the journey and I hope you do as well.
Smoochies to our handsome Ping who we will always think of and visit first--Miss Gemini
ReplyDelete(and perhaps you did not notice that Mama put me on Monday's post last week rather than Tuesdays. I think it is cause I stuck my little tongue out at her, although it is hard to see in that tiny photo!)
What a wonderful post. I always love visiting your blog. You have the most beautiful pictures. I wish you could teach me how to use my camera so I could capture Truffle and Brulee's true beauty.
ReplyDeleteLive each day with your furbabies to it fullest. They are only with us for so long on this earth. May 2013 be a wonderful year for you.

ReplyDeleteI get the feeling that your kitties are more cooperative than we are because the photos you get of them are not only beautiful, they seem to have an ease about them... something that photo shoots here generally do NOT have! I appreciate your blog exactly for what it is, and I am glad you are here.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy your blog, the pictures, the quotations. We are glad you will keep doing it. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLovely post. We always enjoy deeming your cats through your lens. It says a lot about you and all us cat lovers can see the love you have. Thank you for sharing

Seeing. Not deeming.
DeleteThank you to share this post with us. Me and Mom feel the same way...we think cat blog is something real ! And more close to our heart : )
ReplyDeleteMom used to do many blogs before start my blog. But finally, she chose to do only cat blog. Because here is life, it's friendship. And we learn, laugh, and cry together.
Mom didn't help me do blog much this year because she was drained by physical work. In these day, after work she just dropped on the couch and have nap with me before having dinner. But we don't mean to quit blogging. O.K., let's say the truth ! Mom mom is getting old !!!! But now she got holiday, so she can back to help me blogging : )

Every cat blogger has different slant but we all love our cats. Thanks for reminding us these posts are living tributes to our feline friends.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful post. It's important to take the time to reflect on why we blog and the joys and friendships that have grown out of it. Thank you for reminding us. Like you, we struggle with time...it's all a balancing act. It's just so nice to know there's such a warm community of kitties and humans out there for us.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year dear friends!
