But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat, drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering
What you had, And what you lost
And what you had, And what you lost
~Nicks/Stevie

I took this picture in the early 1980's.
I was in NYC visiting a good friend.
I took the cruise around Manhattan by myself.
I hung over the side of the boat so far I nearly fell overboard taking this shot.
I vividly remember this even though it's over 3 decades ago.

Dreams is a song that was on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours LP which came out in 1977 when I was a college student living on my own.
Amazing how it still sounds as relevant today as it was then.
When I heard this song recently on an oldies Radio station the portion of the song I quoted jumped out at me like rocket blasting off. So, so so true.
of what you had,
and what you lost.
that sounds depressing. You ok? Our purrs to you!
ReplyDeleteMost of my oldest memories are still vivid... some more vivid than recent events! haha!
ReplyDeletebig hugs xoxo
Great photo. We're glad you didn't fall in the water to get it!
ReplyDeleteThe sound of water is quite relaxing, the feel of lots of it on your fur is not.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that song too. And a great saying but I feel that what you had is so good to remember and not what you lost. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the song but it means a lot to you now.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot get any better than Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks...
ReplyDeletebeautiful photo
Hugs madi and mom
That is a very poignant song and one of our mom's favorites. She has always felt a kinship with Stevie Nicks. She was so over-joyed when she and Dad got to see Fleetwood Mac in May. Of course, this reminds you of Dear Abby and now will do so every time you hear it, which is a GOOD thing! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteNot lost, more of a temporary parting. Abby will wait until it is time to be re-united.
ReplyDeleteLots of purrs and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteMy human didn't know the song but it resonates to her too. On a different level I guess, but it does, so thank you.
ReplyDeletePurrs
