Time
has a wonderful way
of showing us
what really
matters.
Have you ever tried talking to your cat in their language?
What began as a lark has turned into something I can barely describe.
One day I mur-rowwwwed at Annabelle.
She looked at me with such astonishment.
What?
What did you?
I obviously said something.
Because everything single time I do it now. She comes up to me
and sniffs me purring and happy and meowing back.
I am saying something important.
In her language that she understands perfectly clearly.
I believe it's akin to "I love you".
And that my friends
is a lot to be thankful for.

ReplyDeleteYou are much much nicer than we are! You don't want to know what we are telling our mom!
ReplyDeleteMeowmy mrouws at us too...and while Minko mostly just stares back, Pipo will answer, MOL!
ReplyDeleteMIAOW!!
We think you can absolutely understand each other! Our Mommy "talks" to us, too.
ReplyDelete>>smoochies<<
My human tries trilling at me sometimes (it worked for Sparkle), but it does not do much for me.
ReplyDeleteOverheard human conversation at our house.......
ReplyDeleteMom: Did you talk to Buster?
Dad: About what?
The humans truly believe they have conversations with Buster (who's pretty talkative).
Emma and Buster
I love this. I have to try it
ReplyDeleteWE 200% AGREE....YOU NOW SPEAK MANX-ESE
ReplyDeleteHUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
Mum talks to us all the time but we never answer, Hannah only talks if she gets stepped on and Lucy meows without making a sound. Mum calls it her silent meow!
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Our human is a poor communicator. LOL. Actually, she's pretty good with body language with Nicki...not so much with Derry! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! These pictures of her are so cute. I love how she seems to be looking right at you.
ReplyDeleteI've had different conversations with different kitties. It's fun to try and communicate, even if unsuccessfully, with them. :)
What a wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteYes, I talk to both my kitties and my huskies every day in their language! I may sound like a dork, but they love it!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
That is so sweet! Mum and I sometimes hum at each other. First she does it and then I do it and so it goes on! She thinks we're communicating, but I'm just telling her to be quiet!! MOL
ReplyDeleteMom sometimes talks to us.
ReplyDeleteWe just assume she is telling us how
wonderful we are ;) heehee
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
Mom talks to us too. Sweetpea and Minnie always run over and get so excited.
ReplyDeleteOur Dad often speaks feline, but his accent is pretty funny!!

ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
indeed that iz a lot ta bee thanx full for ♥♥♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteOur mom does too, but she often gets the accent in the wrong place and calls me an umbrella instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. Mom talks to us in cat all the time, especially when she is calling us to dinner or to come inside from the catio. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteI am very fluent in Meow :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! When the head peep meows at us, we look at her and make sure she knows her accent is TERRIBLE.
ReplyDeleteMum murrows to me a lot too and I always answer her. I have to have the last meow though.
ReplyDeleteAnnabelle has such an expressive face.
Oh how purrfect! And we love the photo of Annabelle talking back!
ReplyDeleteI keep telling TW she has to videotape our convos. We always meow back and forth. It started when I first came here. I used to let out a certain meow which TW realized had something to do with calling my cat mom. When I’d be lonely at night, she’d call e using that meow. A few years later, whenever she used it, I’d attack her. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteWell, TBT does try to speak our language. Not very well, of course. Sometimes he simply repeats what we say (in a not-bad imitation), but mostly he just says nonsense like "Mousie tweets toy-treats up the bookcase".
ReplyDeleteAt least he tries...
That's really sweet. The mom must speak with some kind of dialect because when she meows at us, we have a hard time understanding it.
ReplyDeleteAnd time helps lots of things.
ReplyDeletelove
tweedles
Awww, how sweet.
ReplyDeleteSo true, what a sweet post. My Human always talks to me and Neytiri in our language and we both love it!
ReplyDeleteYes! Once again we find agreement :-) Chris is better at emulating the kitties than I am. But we can have like whole conversations with them when we say it the way they do. Each kitty has their own little voice and way of speaking. I love their little individual selves.
ReplyDeletePepiSmartDog: what a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteWe have special languages with our pets too, which they respond to in their special way back.
So glad Annabelle and you have found your own secret language!
