This was taken during Annabelle's first week with me.
You can see the lack of trust.
She was hiding.
***
I don't think she was well treated where she
was before I adopted her.
It's telling that she was an owner surrender to
a high kill shelter.
In fact, if the rescue group had not been there
that morning, because she was considered
an adult, they would have euthanized her
that day.
***
It makes me shudder to think
It makes me shudder to think
that could have been her fate, and the fate of
her juvenile kitten.
***
If only I could have gotten both of you Annabelle.
It is a sadness I have for you.
But your kitten was adopted before you,
it only happened a few days before I adopted you.
I would have adopted you both.
It's strange to have a regret
that you had no control over, but I do.
Annabelle is such a little Momma cat.

So much love you had for her

I didn't know you were a mom, Annabelle! That would have been so nice if both of you could have been adopted together. How awful that the two of you were left at a kill shelter, and how fortunate that there was a rescue ready to take you in.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad you were spared and rescued to a loving home...forever!
ReplyDeleteHope your baby is happy now too.
We are so glad you and your baby were rescued from that shelter!
ReplyDeleteWhile you don't have your baby, we are glad it was adopted too.
Now you can relax...you are safe and loved.

I am glad that you have come out of your shell and we get to see how cute you are all over the place!
ReplyDeleteAnnabelle, you are blessed to land in your home with your mom. I'm so sorry to hear about your sad past. You are such a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteAnnabelle is a lucky girl, and I'm sure her kitten went to a loving home, too, though it's hard to imagine a more loving one than Annabelle's.
ReplyDeleteYou scored the love big time sweet Annabelle!
ReplyDeleteOh Annabelle, we are so glad that you found such a great home. You are such a pretty kitty.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you two were meant to be together.
ReplyDeleteThe very same situation might have happened with both my human Sis's kitties. She and BIL saved them both from kill shelters 2 months apart...Sis says the kitties saved them
Hugs madi your bfff
Your eyes show you want to trust but are afraid to. You came to the best and most loving home you could wish for, Annabelle.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad you rescued Annabelle and at least her kitten was adopted. I completely understand how you feel. When I adopted Joanie and Sammy there was a 3rd sibling already adopted. They had been together 4 and a half years in their other home and I feel so bad that their family got broken up.
ReplyDeleteNow look how she's thriving with you! It was destiny.
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad that the rescue was there at the shelter to pull Annabelle so she could be waiting for you to fall in love with her. She has come a long way, hasn't she?
ReplyDeleteWe can't even think that a beauty like Annabelle may have come to an unfortunate end. Thank cod for the rescue...and you.
ReplyDeleteNo regrets...Debra. Saving Annabelle was a wonderful thing, ad we are going to believe her kitten is having just as great a life. I cannot understand anyone surrendering a kitty to a sure death sentence. Some of our transports have been surrendered kitties, and I often wonder why. We are so happy that Annabelle is now in your amazing loving home. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
