We were on our way to the Specialist.
When you look back, which in no
way can alter anything,
but...
I so wish I had not put her
through those last two
weeks. I had no other choice
at the time, and this is not a
guilt trip I'm laying on myself.
It's only that the outcome would have
been no different, and I hate thinking
how much additional misery
I added onto her.
I so wanted to move that mountain to
save her.
Little did I know,
she was already saved.
Just not in this world.

Awww... purrs to you today.
ReplyDeleteYou do what you can for those you love.
ReplyDeletePurrs to you.
Purrs Georgia,Julie and JJ
Whatever you do for love isn't the wrong thing no matter the outcome-
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. We think we should have let them rest, and be untroubled. But if we don't do all we can, then we think that maybe we should have tried harder, tried something different. We never do enough for our friends, and when we can't help, we think we can never do anything right. Guilt comes when we can't help those we love, whether it's in our power or not. She knows you loved her, and that's what matters.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, boy do we understand.
ReplyDeleteI've said the same thing about Sauce; more times than I can count ~~~ ♥♥♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I often wonder if we should have tried that one last time, but if we hadn't I would have felt that we should have. It is so hard not knowing if what you are doing is the best thing.
ReplyDeleteYou thought you were doing the right thing...and we're sure Abby understood that. Purrs......
ReplyDeleteIf you had let her go sooner you would have doubted that too. There's no easy answer. She knew how much she was loved and that you were beside her every step of the way.
ReplyDeleteI know you did what you thought was right , when we love a kitty, we do everything we can to keep her here with us. XO
ReplyDeleteBig hugs and loud purrs. ((( ♥ )))
ReplyDeleteHindsight gives us new perspectives, but no, you did what you thought was the best/right thing. I had that issues with a couple of my now angel kitties, too...from way before my blogging days.
