A memory came back to me.
Right before Abby passed away,
she inadvertently scratched me.
I recalled thinking that I so wished
that it wouldn't heal, so that she leave
it as a permanent mark.
But heal it did.
I hated seeing it disappear.
It was just one more thing,
one more piece of her that was gone.

Just an odd random memory
and I still wish I had that mark.
My human still has a scar from the cat before Sparkle. She is glad of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's still there, you remember it.
ReplyDeleteOur Mommy had the same thing happen. It was a cat named Jupiter who was lost while she was moving across the country. She wished for the scratch to scar, but it didn’t.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I scraped my hand badly playing with Tungsten; it was my fault, as I drew my hand under a cabinet too swiftly. I still have that car and it always reminds me of our early days together.
ReplyDeleteI have a scar from Milky-way. He was fast asleep in my lap butt to my tummy. My hands resting beside him. Something startled him. He sprung up like a tiger on a hunt his back claws caught me on the tender flesh on inside of my wrist...just 1/8" from that large vein.

We know Abby is always there with you. Just reading your post makes us think about if I have any markings or scars from my little ones during the course of my lifetime. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

You do. While not visable there is still a scar on your heart. She seemed to be a very special kitty.
ReplyDeleteMy human retains scars quickly :) Hugs.

Good to have memories of the ones that have left us. So many good memories. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteI would have wished the same from Robin, Admiral, or this baby, Katie. I understand completely.
ReplyDeleteThose random memories really have a way of hitting us in the heart, don't they?
ReplyDeletePurrs......
ReplyDeleteI have a scar where Flynn clawed me in fright when a low flying jet flew overhead. It was probably 15 years ago and has faded, but I can still see it. I hope it never completely fades away.
