Gratitude

This week over at Caturday, Silas made his way to the Rainbow Bridge, it was the second sweet cat that they have lost this year. Please remember them in your thoughts. I began pondering how we take it for granted that we will go home each night and hug our little fur friends, so I have to remind myself not to do this and always go home and give all my babies their hugs and kisses and be grateful for each and every day that they bless my life.

Point Of View

This is Abby's view from the ground. I have noticed when she is looking at me she first checks out my feet and then she looks up and meows. She is very vocal and it serves her well because it alerts me to where she is. She is like a little tiny fast streetcar, she scoots at breakneck speed through doorways like she is racing the Indy 500. Occasionally she makes a turn so fast that she will run into me but she bounces off like a rubber ball. I really don't have to worry about walking on her because she is so conscious of where I am and she has get maneuverability.

The BIG Difference

Our friend Zeus said both my sister and I look alike and we do in many ways. But our biggest difference is our tails. I don't have one (and I am proud of it!) and she does. Our size is quite different too. I am about 3 pounds lighter than Boo, and we have a few differences in our tuxedos, I have a little more white on my furry belly and I also have a denser plusher coat of furrs. Boo has a very sleek body and I am more round, Manxies are prized for their roundness. But, if you were to just glance at us, you would hardly be able to tell us apart.

Boo's New Chair

Boo breaks in the new chair we added to the bedroom.

Ever since Boo has been with us she has slept with us at night. So each evening she goes to bed in the master bedroom. At first she slept curled up like she is in the above picture next to me, but lately she has taken to sleeping in the chair. Just this week for some reason she decided she wanted to sleep curled up next to me. Her first move into bed is to make bisquits on top of Mom and then she just plops over onto her side which usually means she rolls off of me and onto the small pillow I had next to me where she will sleep for about 4 hours before she will come up into my face and announce it's time to get up and let her out. I am accustomed to her waking me up in the middle of the night, so I simply pick her up and carry her to the door hoping that there aren't 4 little faces trying to get in. I have had that happen at 1 am too. Try chasing down 4 cats in the dark at 1 am. That will wake you up.

The Pink Cat

Yesterday afternoon I was making a new cake for our office luncheon. I was nearly finished with it when the phone rang. After finishing up the call, I noticed Boo had gotten up on the bar stool and was coming up on the counter...Abby's counter. Abby was in her new cat cave and naturally was watching what Boo was up to. When she felt Boo had invaded her terrority too far she zoomed out of the cat cave to chase her away. The only problem was there was a pink cake in the way. Boo nimbly avoided any contact with the cake, but Abby plunged right into it. There went 45 minutes down the drain and then there was Abby covered in pink frosting. I knew enough to grab her before she could dash off wearing her new pink fur and for 3 seconds I debated on whether to dunk her under the sink and just give her a bath. But, I figured I had enough excitement for one afternoon. So I just grabbed some paper towels and wet them down and cleaned her off. Now both of us are covered in pink frosting. I did manage to get most of it off of her and I figured she would get the sticky stuff once she started grooming herself. So, my cake...well I had to get my husband to bring me all the ingredients home from the grocery store and I got to make a second cake. This time there were no mishaps and the cake made it into work with me this morning intact.

Trouble Trouble

Honest I didn't mean to be a bad poodin'.

I is so sorry I bitey my Daddy. I has a lil temper (I is a lil poodin) and it sometimes takes over me and I just fly off in a huffy. I's sorry Daddy for hurtin' you. Please don't give up on me, I's had so many human beans to do so in the my past. I's try to be better with my lil temper if'n you will forgive me for bein' a bad girl.

Computer Wizard

This is where Abby likes to sit when I am on the computer. She actually jumps from the ground up and climbs to the top. The first time she did it it threw me for a loop because she would normally hop up on the desk and then climb into my lap. Now she climbs up the back and then down the arm of the chair and into my lap.

Perched way up high...the better to see all my brofurrs and sisfurrs as they come into my space!

Yesterday in Eric's blog he wrote about being able to reach your nose with your tongue. I came across these two images of Abby where I just caught her doing just that. Thanks to Derby for starting up this topic!

Squeaks

Gracie's vocals are all squeaky. She is a quite vocal and her sounds are so interesting. None of our other cats squeak, but she makes these high pitched staccato squeaks. It is really very cute. It also fits her personality. She is a playful and happy kitty, and naturally her nickname is Squeaks, and that honestly that fits her to a "T".

Sending My Love To You

Abby's greeting is to rub her cheek against your hand. She loves to rub her scent onto any part of my hand or fingers. One other thing she does quite often is to use her teeth to 'pinch' a part of my hand. I knew it was a sign of affection, and I was explaining this to a good friend who told me that her cat loved to nip her eye. So at a cat show she asked someone with some expertise what her cat was doing and why? The person explained that it was a 'kitty kiss'. So, now I know what Abby is doing. She only does this while she was being affectionate, so I knew she was expressing her love back to me, now I know what a a kitty kiss is!

I also know the difference when she isn't being affectionate. She lets me know when I have overstepped my boundary with her with a much stronger warning and NIP!
