Daddy's Shoes

Ping: Well if I don't have any toys, then I'll play with my own paw.

I've got to find something else to play with.

Ummmm what's this?

This will make a good toy.

Why's it's Dad's old shoes!

Let me rub all over them first.

And rub some more.

Hey what are you looking at?
******
Well since Ping wondered why we were looking at him, why not instead go visit Friday's ARK for some more animal viewing pleasure and don't forget to stop by this weekend and visit Carnival of the Cats.

Tuxie Tuesday

Abby: Here I am waiting patiently for Momma to come over and help me open my package!

Here I am inside the package. Momma did you have to show everyone my b*tt?
Here I am enjoying DKM's squiggles.

Oh my these are fantastic!

Don't these colors look purrfect on me?

I'm really beginning to enjoy the full effect now. Sammy, Momma took this picture especially for you. I rarely show off my tummy!

OK everykitty... the next few pictures may be too intense for the younger ones. But, it also may serve as a good example of what happens when nip takes complete control. BE prepared this may be shocking to some of our younger kits.....

Abby is under the complete influence of nip.

See the dizzy effects it causes.

Complete chaos!

And finally it's over.

You can witness for yourself the negative effects that a whole blown nip session has! So young kits be furry careful when you have your first experience with nip!
****
Thank you to DKM for the Abbadabba snuggle and the fresh nip and great squiggles!

Circus, Circus

Abby: I think I am going to run away and join the Circus!
I'll perform my death defying magic tricks in my red tent.

Well; on second thought did I hear a can opener?

It's dinnertime, I gonna rethink my plan to join the circus.

While Abby contemplates her new adventure, drop in and visit this week's edition of Friday's
ARK, and don't forget to stop by for this weekend's Carnival of the Cats.

Double Decker

This is one of the favored spots during morning sunbeams. They align just right for kitty basking. Here you see two kitties for the price of one. This location is the best view for catching kitty rays. Both girls wonder why they are being bothered by a catazzari!

Tuxie Tuesday

Abby: First she took this nice picture of me. I didn't mind this too much because she didn't have that flashy thing that puts stars in my eyes. But then......
Momma turns me purple -- now what's up with that? I think she ought to leave the crayons alone, don't you?

Boo's Full Monty

Boo loves the dryer. She loves lying on top of it and going inside of it when it has warm dried clean clothes, especially sheets. For some time I have had a ceramic bank in the shape of a bunny sitting on top of the dryer collecting coins that my husband forgets to take out of his pockets. Well yesterday Mr. Bunny bit the dust. I don't know what exactly happened all I know is we heard a LOUD commotion, and then broken shards of the bank and lots of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters spread all over the floor and Boo flying out of the laundry room as quickly as her little paws would carry her. Now I have a Mr. Piggy and he sits above the dryer. So far none of the kitties have shown any interest in getting up on my shelf with the laundry supplies....but give them time.

Two Year Ago Today

Two years ago today I wrote these words in my journal....

There she was in her tiny little igloo like bed, petite, dainty and perfect.
Beth (the rescue lady who found her) took her out of the cage and she clung
to me, mostly from fear I suspect. But, she was perfect. Then Beth said she
doesn’t have a tail. What? No tail! But then who cared, she was
perfect. She climbed up my shoulder and clung to me, my new baby.

We were in PetsMart a few hours doing all the paperwork, and
getting a few necessities for our cats. We even got Abby’s nail trimmed. She
didn’t resist or seem to mind all that much. Which is probably totally wrong,
the poor kittie was traumatized, I didn’t know how much right at that moment,
but it would be clear to me after I learned more of her
story.

After getting her some extra food & litter & a new
scratching post, we were off. Abby and her cute little meow rode like a dream in
the car, hardly any reaction at all. Did she like riding in the car, or was she
terrified of what fate would befall her?

She was lost. She had been
taken from the arms of a 10 year old who no doubt
loved her dearly. TOO affectionate her family complained. TOO much
underfoot, craving attention all
the time, this poor little kitty needed
lots of hugs and kittie kisses which her
human family did not want to give
her.

So we settled her into the
bathroom. We had food, water
and treats waiting for her. Found a comfy little bed that none of the cats
warmed but she climbed into. Put her scratching post nearby so she could paw
all over that. Put her favorite mousey in her bed along with the special toy
we brought her. Abby all 5 pounds of her was scared beyond
any understanding. Where am I, she had to ask? Where are my humans? Why did they
abandon me to these humans whose smell I don’t know and don’t like? What’s a
poor kitty who has no one in the world to do?

What she did was make as much ruckus as she knew how to make for us take her back. Shehissed and she growled, and she snapped & she swatted and she was totally untouchable. What have we gotten ourselves into? She hates being here,
she wants to go home!

Alone for the night, she must weep for her
former human child, it
all must seem like it’s a life time ago.

******

This was the first time I laid eyes on Abby.
It's two years babygirl and I love you more with each passing day. You are my sweet little furball and I am so happy fate brought us to each other.
Happy Gotcha Day my angel Abby.

My First Picture

DAY 1 of my new life
~by Abby

All I can remember is my former man made my little girl put me in my igloo and give me to some strange woman who took me away. I cried and cried for my little girl but no one heard me. Then we went to this unusual place with lots of other kitties and woofies and even fev-vers. All of a sudden this new lady came up to me and I jump on her. TAKE ME OUTTA HERE. She must have heard me because before I knew it I was outta there faster than a jail break. I said you're going the wrong way. I need to get back to my little girl. They didn't listen to me. Instead they took me to this new place that had CAT SMELLS! They tried to bribe me with a fancy new bed and toys and food, but HA they weren't going to get one over on me that fast. I hissed and beared my fank (well I was missing one of my canines) and swatted at them with my tiny paw and they were perplexed. Didn't they understand I needed to get back to my little girl? She misses me and I miss her. So after awhile this new lady got the message and she left me alone. I sat there alone in this new room and I pondered my fate....what was about to happen to me?

Day 2

Well it's a new day. My new lady came in and visited with me. I was happy to see her. I was just happy to see someone. I had been locked up in this room by myself all night, so I decided I might be a little friendlier. She was very nice to me and I let her hold me. I did give her a few good nips though just to let her know I am not a kitty to be messed with.

Day 3

There are 3 other cats in this house, I am not a cat who is crazy about other cats. Where I was living we had one other cat and he and I had a mutual understanding. YOU stay outdoors and I will stay indoors. We both liked it that way. These 3 want to come into my space. *ummmmmfgh* I don't think so. I am going to barricade the door with my new bed. The new lady comes in a lot to see me. I am beginning to like sitting in her lap. She talks real nice to me and is very caring. I like that. I still give her nips for good measure.

Day 4

Well things are coming along. I am beginning to get use to everything around here. As long as I am with my new lady and those other cats stay out of my room everything is fine. My new lady says I can call her Mom if I want to. I am thinking about it. I haven't decided yet. She is real nice and spends a lot of time with me. I am starting to look forward to her coming into my room and spending time with me. She comes in before she leaves for work and brings me breakfast...it is the best stuff. I never had stinky goodness before, all they let me eat was one dry food mix which I didn't like very much, but it was all I had. Mom...oops I mean the lady also gave me some stuff that is great it's called Temptations. Wow are they ever good.

Day 5

I get to spend a lot of time by myself. That's OK with me. I am a solitary kitty. I am wondering when my new Mom is coming to see me. She is gone during the day but when she gets home she comes to see me! She really likes me. She talks softly to me and pets me and rocks me. I like sleeping in her lap. This is better than my other home. I think maybe I will stay here. I still miss my little girl, but she had other things that kept her interest. I think it is best that I stay right here, is that OK with you Momma?

*****

Sammy asked me to tell you about my first five days... it took many more days before I would come out of my room, and it took many more before I was left with Boo, Ping, Jinx and Gracie. But, I love my Momma and I love being here. I would not go back for anything in the whole wide kitty world.

Ping Plays

It was just too tempting....
Me removing the slipcover from the sofa and uncovering some of Ping's toys...

He grabbed the toys and the slipcover as it came off....

Then he pounced....

And he grabbed....

And he gave me that look that will melt your heart....

Ping had a grand time playing. He is completely a little boy at heart. He finds joy in the simple things, like folds in fabric. I think there is something to be learned from just being happy with what you have.

It's Friday, so that means it's time to go board the
ARK. Come on over and join us and all the other wonderful critters on board. Then don't forget that this weekend will again be visiting the Carnival of the Cats.
