I am going to turn over this posting to Mom....
This past Friday and Saturday we finally had our "garage sale". We've been working on it for nearly a month. We worried about the weekend we selected because of hurricanes and as it turned out there was one out in the Caribbean but we were lucky, it dissipated before it got close and the weather could not have been better! We had lots of people stopping in and it was a lot of fun to meet so many of the families in our neighborhood.
I only had one person who bought something bring it back -- wow can you imagine?
I was disappointed that I didn't get any ladies who sewed because I had so much extra fabric and the beautiful linens I had didn't go over.
Luckily nearly everything you see in this picture of Christmas went to new homes! I told almost everyone that I was so glad to be able to see this stuff being used instead of packed away in boxes. For those who don't know, we were former antique dealers and when the economy took it's turn downward so did our business. We were forced to close it and this sale was compromised of what we had left over plus a few odds and ends that I added from my home. We've had it in storage now for several years. But since both of us retired we were finally able to take it all out of storage and present it. We sold about 2/3rds of what we had, so we felt it was a real success, and we had fun. But it's been a job, and now I have to repack what we didn't sell and we have to figure out what to do with the remainder that's left. But it did feel good to clear out so much.
