Tuxie Toosday With Abby and a PSA

Attempting a landing.
Second pass.

Reach out for a sniff.

Settle for a seat.
***
Mom wants to tell you about something to look out for,
OK Mom, I'll turn it over to you now.
Thanks Abby.

***
Right before Christmas my husband purchased a gift card from Krystal.
That is a hamburger place here in the South.
He went in gave the cashier $25 dollars and walked out with his gift certificate.
I gave the gift certificate to my Dad for Christmas because he and my Mom like Krystal.
But it wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that they decided to use it.
Well, when they did, that cashier said it was only worth $10.
They even had the manager check.
So, I know my husband paid $25, but the cashier he bought the card from only put $10 on it,
and in all likelihood pocketed the rest.
I don't know that for sure but if I were a betting woman that is what I was bet.
That $15 went somewhere.
So, I contacted Krystal headquarters and asked that they send my parents
that $15 credit. I didn't want anything and stated so in my letter.
Well within the week, Krystal not only apologized, they sent my parents a $50 gift card, and
they also sent the same to me.
So, I have to praise Krystal for their response, they went above and beyond.
But here is what I want to say:
please make sure whenever you purchase a gift card, especially with cash
to watch what the register rings up.
I myself probably would never even think to watch.
Because even if my husband had checked the receipt it would have said $10 and then it would have been the cashiers word against my husband.
It was just a lesson learned, and one I had never encountered before, or to be truthful, one I had never even considered!
But, I do have to give credit where credit is due,
Krystal stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.
Thank you Krystal.

Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time;
it is a regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.

Gracie's Router

I spied Gracie in the office and she was half sitting on top of the router and external hard drive.
Can you believe she decided to try and nap on top?
How comfortable can this be?

Mancat Monday With Ping and Spring

Welcome Spring from Ping
Garden is beginning to bloom
Lovely rose

We had 5 adoptions this weekend at Lucky Cat Adoptions!
Yay that is a great thing.
The bad thing:our innernets.
The past two weeks we have had 5 outages in our neighborhood, can you see that Mom is not happy with AT&T? We have to wonder why they can't keep their innernets on?
***
Daddy has been given a few more weeks to heal on his torn rotator cuff.
He'll go back to his Doctor in about three weeks and we'll go from there.
We feel that the slow conservative way is the best way!
***
So if we don't get to visit much it's because our innernets is out in our neighborhood again...
I'm gonna go put the bitey on AT&T!

Nimbus

Memories
Not the least hard thing to bear when
they go from us, these quiet friends,
is that they carry away with them so
many years of our lives. Yet, if they
find warmth therein, who would
begrudge them those years that they
have so guarded?
And whatever they take,
be sure they have deserved.
~ John Galsworthy

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of another of our furfriends.

Nimbus has been quite ill for some time.

Please leave some purrs for his heartbroken family here.

Wordy Wednesday Challenge 2011

When it was first suggested we chose a word to describe our cat, the first one to my mind was loyal.

LOYAL
Part of speech: adjective
Definition: faithful, dependable
Synonyms: allegiant, ardent,attached,behind one,believing,constant,devoted,firm,staunch,steadfast,true-blue,trustworthy,unfailing,unswerving,unwavering.
Origin:1523-35

Abby is a firm faithful constant completely attached cat to me.
She is truly devoted, totally unwavering.
I do believe she would follow me over that proverbial cliff if she had to.

For all of her other quirky behaviors this is the one that lends itself so near and dear to my heart.
As it has I am sure for the two other former homes that she was in.
I know for certain that the former Mom in the home she was in said she was quite devoted to her daughter, as Abby was her cat before her mean Dad made her give her up.
But for me Abby is my true loyal companion.
For here and now and beyond.

*****
Please send some purrs for Dad. He goes back for his evaluation tomorrow on his torn rotator cuff. We will know if'n Dad has to have surgery or not.

Tuxie Toosday

Today Abby has Mr. Jinx join her on Tuxie Toosday.
She wanted to show you her size next to a "normal" sized cat.
We call Mr. Jinx 'hefty' but height wise he is normal, as you can see she is pint size in comparison.
But believe me moments after this picture she swatted the heck out of him and he moved.
Most of the time, she is pretty OK with Jinx.
He is the only one she is OK with.
He will groom her on top of her head and she likes that.
Most of the time, when she 'meows' at him to boss him around (just like all the others) he will just
saunter away. He is so mellow. It is only when she gets really hissy with him that he might paw her
on top of the head. Mr Jinx is our 'daddy cat' he takes care of all the others in his special low keyed way.

The Greatest Gift

I always knew this time would come,
From the very instant our eyes first met.
How I loved you then! How I love you now!
I made a promise then, and I will keep that promise now...
You will not suffer from a pain that will not heal;
You will not know the loss of a life remembered, now gone.

It is for me alone to make this decision,
The price for the bright joy and pure laughter
You brought me during the time we shared.
I am the only one who can decide when it is time.
When my hope dies, and my fear rides high,
Just when I need you most, I must let you go.

It is for you alone to tell me when you are ready
For without your guidance, I will not know
When to lay my grief, my guilt, my anger
My sorrow and my selfish heart aside
and give you this last gift, this greatest gift.
You eyes will speak to mine and I will know.

The pain of this moment is excruciating.
Tears stream down my face in a river of sorrow.
And my heart drowns in a pool of grief.
For you have spoken and I have listened,
and unlike other decisions I have made
This one brings no relief...no comfort...no peace.

For if there's one thing you've taught me
If there's only one thing I've learned....
Unconditional love has a condition after all,
I must be willing to let you go, when you speak to me
I must be willing to help you go, if you cannot go alone
And I must accept my pain so you can be free of yours.

Go easily now, go quickly now,
Do not linger here, it is time for you to leave.
Go find your strength, go find your youth
Go find the ones who have gone before you
You are free to leave me now, free to let your spirit soar
Rest easy now, your pain will soon be gone.

I pray I will find comfort in my memories...
in the dark and lonely days ahead.
I cannot say I will not miss you, I cannot say I will not cry.
For only my tears can heal my broken heart.
But I promise you this; as long as I live,
You will live, alive in my mind, forever in my heart.

So I give you this last gift, all I have left to give,
And this will be my greatest gift...sending you away.
It is the measure of my unconditional love....
For only the greatest love can say
"Goodbye, go find the bridge, we'll meet again,
Loving you has been the greatest gift of all."

Taste of the Wild

Amy from The House of Cats had a contest a few weeks ago which we were lucky enough to win!
The gift arrived today from Taste of the Wild. We did not know we would be receiving such a wonderful surprise package!
Here Abby is checking out the round scratcher. She is having a great time.

She was actually interesting in the round ball!
Next up Miss Boo.
She was also interested in the scratcher and ball!!
Gracie says take me to your leader! She loved it.
Ping isn't sure yet.
But Mr Jinx jumped right on!
And he played with the ball too!
Abby just gobbled up the food and so did Gracie.
I wanted to just give a sample and see how it affects their system.
But according to the website this is the information on the formula:

with Trout and Smoked Salmon

  • For All Life Stages
  • Grain-Free
  • Trout & Smoked Salmon
  • Digestive Support System
  • Antioxidants
  • Omega Fatty Acid Blend
  • Berry Blend
  • Taurine
  • Tomatoes
  • Chelated Minerals
A grain-free formula with sweet potatoes provides highly digestible energy for your active cat. Made with trout and wood-smoked salmon, this formula offers great taste and quality fish protein. For today’s healthy cat, this formula is supplemented with fruits and vegetables, providing natural antioxidants to support a healthy immune system and overall good health. Your cat craves a taste of the wild. Go ahead and give him one.

Thank you Amy!
