Tuxie Toosday With Abby

Momma got all of this plus some other fruit for $28 at the Farmers Market.
I am helping her clean it and get it ready for food preparation. (As you can see Mom and Dad love acorn squash -- it was only $1 a piece, Mom said that was a steal) Mom and Dad love fresh vegetables and fruits. Mom is a fruit addict!

Mancat Monday With Ping

Ping has a favorite habit.

He loves his rubbies. When I am heading toward the laundry room to clean out the litter boxes every morning, he follows me meowing. He wants me to give him a rub down. He jumps up on the washer and talks to me. I usually stop and give him what he wants, but he always wants more, and he give me a meow/chirp. He is so irresistible.

Anyone want to volunteer to give Ping his rubbies today?

***
Tomorrow we are going on a little trip up to visit my Mom's brother.
Guess what?
I am going to make the trip too!
Mom knows I'll be OK once I figure out I'm not going to the Vet.
But, it should be an adventure.
It'll take us 6 1/2 hours to get there ... I guess that's a lotta sleeps.
Mom hopes to still be able to visit from time to time, but she isn't sure what is gonna happen.
Boo,Ping,Jinx, and Gracie are gonna have a nice lady come and check on them and feed them.
Every single time she has come over they all run. But I checked her out.
She's very nice.
So we may not be around much over the next few days.
We hope efurryone has a blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

Mancat Monday With Both Jinx & Ping

As you can see I have two sets of eyes watching me take lunar pictures. They could not figure out what I was doing outside especially at night. Jinx had taken up the entire ledge but Ping is definitely right behind him (on top of the dryer).

Starry starry Night

Starry starry night,
paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills,
sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills,
in colors on the snowy linen land.
Now I understand
what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen
they did not know how,
perhaps they'll listen now.

Inigo and Tavi

Tonight we are sadden beyond words by the news that two of our long time fur friends are facing their last hours and days here on this earth. Tomorrow Inigo who has battled his illness valiantly is going to the Bridge. Tavi from Camie's Kitties is dealing with his final battle against CRF. Please keep both Inigo and Tavi in your prayers and also their families who are dealing with crushing heartbreaking choices. We will miss you both and it has been our honor to have known you. May your journey continue onward to the light -- until we see you again....you will remain in our hearts.

The Big Move

See me sitting right in front of a triple stack bookcase? It goes all the way up to the ceiling. It is against the far wall in the computer room or da office. Well earlier this week Mom had a terrible ordeal with ATT(see Mom's rant on the post earlier this week--smoke was coming outta her ears when she wrote that). You see our DSL line is connected behind one of these bookcases (that are bolted together). The customer "NO" service employee said if Mom did not remove the DSL phone line from the wall jack she could not help her any further. Well, Mom had to get Dad to come in and take this bookcase apart (after she removed most of the stuff on the shelves). The stupid ordeal with ATT ended with the intennets coming back on (the next day), but Mom and Dad began to rethink 'da office'.

So you know what they did?

They took everything out of the office and redid it.

We kitties had a great time with all the great stuff that came out of the office.

Now Mom's desk sits right in front of the window and wraps around the wall that the bookcases used to sit on. (NOW they can get to any wire they need to without moving furniture out of the way) Actually Mom has to admit that stupid ordeal with ATT had a silver lining. The office has more space and we have more room to walk on top of the desks. It's a win win situation. Since the desktop computer doesn't work anymore they finally took that out of 'da office' and now just use the laptop. So there is more room for everyone, including finding floorspace they didn't know was in 'da office'!

Life is good!
Happy Sunday!

Call To Duty

Abby Veteran Day
I imagine you've never heard of Marine Sgt Rafael Peralta. You truly need to. He embodies the reason we hold dear all those who serve our great nation.

He was a sergeant in Company A, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment for Operation Dawn, the November offensive to retake the Iraqi city of Fallujah, which had become a haven for terrorists. What he did on the day of Nov. 15 was an awe-inspiring act of selfless sacrifice and faithfulness to his fellow Marines.

The only way we can honor Sgt. Peralta's heroism is to tell his story and remember his name. What follows is mostly drawn from the reporting of Marine combat correspondent Lance Cpl. T.J. Kaemmerer, who witnessed the events on that day.

Sgt. Peralta, 25, was a Mexican American. He joined the Marines the day after he received his green card and earned his citizenship while in uniform. He was fiercely loyal to the ethos of the Corps.

On the morning of November 15th 2004, the Marines entered a house and kicked in the doors of two rooms that proved empty. But there was another closed door to an adjoining room. It was unlocked, and Peralta, in the lead, opened it. He was immediately hit with AK-47 fire in his face and upper torso by three insurgents. He fell out of the way into one of the cleared rooms to give his fellow Marines a clear shot at the enemy. During the firefight, a yellow fragmentation grenade flew out of the room, landing near Peralta and several fellow Marines. The uninjured Marines tried to scatter out of the way, two of them trying to escape the room, but were blocked by a locked door. At that point, barely alive, Peralta grabbed the grenade and cradled it to his body.

His body took most of the blast. One Marine was seriously injured, but the rest sustained only minor shrapnel wounds. Cpl. Brannon Dyer told a reporter from the Army Times, "He saved half my fire team."

Kaemmerer compares Peralta's sacrifice to that of past Marine Medal of Honor winners Pfc. James LaBelle and Lance Cpl. Richard Anderson. LaBelle dove on a Japanese grenade to save two fellow Marines during the battle of Iwo Jima. Although he had just been wounded twice, Anderson rolled over an enemy grenade to save a fellow Marine during a 1969 battle in Vietnam.

Peralta's sacrifice should be a legend in the making. But somehow heroism doesn't get the same traction in our media environment.

Don't forget what Sgt Peralta did for his fellow Marines that day, what he did for all of us.

Sadly after much debate, the military failed to award the highest honor a fallen soldier can be given. He was not awarded the Metal of Honor, he was given the Navy Cross. His family has been terribly sadden and shaken by the course of events in his legacy not being given the correct honor it so deserved.

But today if just one more person knows the name Sgt Rafael Peralta and remembers the brave and noble man then I think we have gone a long way to establish him as being honored in a far more important way.

Now that I know you Sgt Peralta, I will never forget.

Dear ATT

Your customer non-service is atrocious.
Our internet service has been spotty the past few months. After being without a service we have paid for you make it next to impossible to explain why interruptions keep happening. NO, you don't explain.
Each time I have to 'talk' to one of your customer service help desk employees I have to go through a script. Every. Single. Time.

Your customer service employees made us purchase a second modem we did not need for $80 because she could not see beyond the fact that she could not access my modem. Therefore the only thing it could have been was a faulty modem. It wasn't the modem.

Another time another employee made me change my modem password because of some silly script, guess what? I still could not get on the internet once we did that. ONCE he contacted the second tier of the help desk he found we were in a neighborhood outage. Then he was going to leave my computer set up with the 'test' password. As it was I had a bad feeling that the password he changed in his system wouldn't match the one I had. Guess what? I was right. He actually hadn't shown me the right steps to truly change my password and although your system had the new one, mine was still the same.
Luckily that time, I had to talk with one of your employees that actually knew how to explain how to do something.
Well guess what?
The past THREE days our service has been on and then off.
The previous two days I called it was a neighborhood outage.
I called today after an hour of it being out.
Your customer 'no' service employee wanted me to unplug the cable to the DSL line to the computer. I plead and nearly begged her to check the second tier to find out if there was an outage she said "THERE IS NO OUTAGE". Then she wanted me to unplug the DSL line from the wall jack.
BIG problem.
My office is so small a several hundred pound bookcase sits in front of the jack.
I told her I could not get to it.
Guess what?
She said she could not help me if I didn't unplug the DSL cable from the jack.
That would reset the DSL line and it would IMMEDIATELY come back on.

So I said again with a LOT more frustration to please check and see if there was an outage.
She wasn't going to do it.
ABSOLUTELY.
I said that I would have to call back and she said not if the internet came back on.

My husband and I moved everything off the shelves on the bookcase, he unbolted it, he tugged, and pulled and tugged. I had to move nearly half the office because of how small (7X11) this room is.
He unplugged the DSL filter and plugged in the DSL line to the wall.
JUST.LIKE.SHE.INSTRUCTED.

Guess what?
NO internet.
I called back.
Guess what?
There was a message that said there was a neighborhood outage.

AND we saw the AT&T tech working outside on the junction box because it is right next to our property.

I found the name and street & email address to the CEO of AT&T.
I wrote a 'real' letter.
I know it won't do any good.
But, I really want to know is this the way you truly want to treat customers?
It is so wrong to 'script' each and every call.
Sometimes the customer is right.
And they don't have to tear their house apart nor pull out their hair to talk to your company.
I have a very real frustration right now with AT&T.
Honestly I think that the supposed problem(which they 'fixed') when we lost our connection for several days was never really fixed, but there is no one who will give an answer as to what the problem is nor who to talk to about it.
It is really unfair to the customer, and also unfair to the customer service employee.
The employee today was terribly short with me, and perhaps she felt I deserved it, I was growing deeply frustrated, but isn't the the point my frustration was because she wouldn't listen? She would not listen -- and that is what I needed her to do. She could have successfully handled my situation if only she had checked a bit further. We both would have a better time of it had she simply listened.
