Finally Friday: Friday Cat Blogging

Abby
The other evening as Abby lay beside me she quietly slipped her little paw into my hand and slowly retracted her claws to hold on. She was purring softly as she did this. She was happy and purrerating. It warmed my heart ... and hers as well I believe.

Miracle Mira

This is a current listing on ebay in case anyone might be interested in helping....Please click on the ebay link to the listing...I just don't know how people can do this to cats...I just don't understand....purrssssss....hoping Miss Mira finds her forever home.

Isn't she a beauty?

You are bidding on a 4x6 photo of Miracle ("Mira"), a rescued Tuxedo Cat. Mira was brought to us by a police officer who found teenagers torturing kittens in a park. She was the only survivor of the litter of 4. She had been shot in the throat and rectum with BB's. The vet didn't give her much of a chance of survival, but she's a true Miracle! She's recovered from her injuries and now knows what happiness is. She's very affectionate, purrs easily and likes to rub her face all over yours. She loves to cuddle! She never grew to a normal size, she remained extra small and lightweight, she's just under 5 pounds. She's very shy, terrified of other cats. She hides from loud people and a busy environment. Her ideal home would be an only cat in a quiet home.
If you are in Utah and would like to adopt Mira, call (801) 458-7938. We are open 24/7, located in the Salt Lake City area.
If you are the winning bidder, your purchase is a donation which is tax-deductible. The IRS ID number will appear on your invoice. If you pay before your invoice is sent, the ID number will be emailed to you.
The Feline Foundation of Utah Cat Rescue & Adoption agency has been rescuing cats and kittens (and one horse!) since December 2006. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization funded only by public donations. Best of all, we are a NO-KILL shelter! We have 36 cats and kittens in our shelters and care for 2 feral colonies. We have a 100% adoption rate...everyone gets a home, eventually! The shortest stay for guests has been 1 hour...the longest was 1 1/2 years. Cats in our care are kept in very clean rooms. Their bedding and blankets are fresh daily, their dishes and litter boxes are sterilized daily. They are well fed, played with and loved.
We give our furry guests the very best! No one lives in cages, they all have their own rooms. If they come in as a family, they stay together. Cats are never mixed together to prevent germs from being spread. They are all groomed, vaccinated, vet checked, spayed/neutered, loved and spoiled rotten. They are fed a top quality diet, and some have special dietary needs. We bottle feed 5 babies. We also have an older cat which suffered kidney damage and needs IV's twice a day and periodic blood tests.
When adopted, new pet parents agree to a home check and fill out an adoption agreement. We follow up on them to make sure everyone is happy. The adopted cats go to their new homes with their own toys and brush. Every one of them leaves footprints on our hearts!
We provide emergency housing, transportation (we drove a pair of kittens from Utah to New Mexico), emergency medical, low-cost spay & neuter, low cost vaccines, lost & found, adoption and education fairs with informative displays.

Manly Mancat Monday: Mr. Jinx

***update***
We hope all of our fellow furfriends came through Fay without any CATastrophe. We only experience some minor flooding. As strange as it may sound yesterday (two days after our little visit with Fay) we had heavier rains and thunderboomers which on top of an already saturated ground only made things worst. Hopefully now the rains will stop for just a brief time and we can get back to normal...please....

A Cat's EyeView

Go Away Fay

Well we is gittin furry tired of dis stinky wefther! We r furry luckee; no trees have fallen on any of us, we haven't been flooded out (except the garage) and we still has our power!
*********WOO HOO***********
Fay has moved inland about 70 miles and is heading west at 6mph. This has been such an incredible storm. So far she has had 3 landfalls within the state and she is headed back towards another exit into the Big Bend area of Florida and then head back into the Gulf and continue on into Alabama and Missippissi. She is moving so slowly and dropping so much rain it is causing major flooding. She has stalled several times just dropping rain at the rate of about an inch per hour. Fay is presently still covering the majority of the state of Florida. We won't be out of her grip for probably another 24 hours. So we expect our rainfall totals to increase.
We've been incredibly lucky; and we pray all our friends have weathered as well as we have.
All us kitties will be happee when dis Fay purrson leaves us alone!
Daddy said dat dis mornin when he went to werk, he found a small kitty hiding underneaf sum grocuree carts and he wanted to save him but when he came back wif a box he wuz gone. *sigh* We feels so bad fur all of dos kitties dat had to stay out in dis storm wifout shelter....

Making Love paw on Momma

***UPDATE***
Momma had already pre-posted for us because she didn't know what was going to happen with TS Fay. As it stands right now, the storm is stationary over the coast near Flager Beach, not far from Daytona which is where Samantha and Mr. Tigger are. We are furry werried bout them. This storm has dropped copious amounts of rain on the areas it has stationed itself over. By basically stopping it has delayed it's arrival in NE FL. The timeline they are giving us is later this evening, and if the storm does what it has done in the Melbourne area we could see area flooding. They are predicting up to 12" of rain. We hope all our FL furiends are OK, so far so good for us: it's furry dark and furry windy wif bands of wet drops fallin frum da skies. We just wood reely like fur this to git ofur!
We hopes we will continue to have power but the authories are not optimitisic. If we can post tomorrow with another update we will, but if you don't hear from us we are literally in the dark.
Kitties are noy losin any sleeps and are fine. We will continue to hope for the best for all.....

Little Big Man

We will probably be at home and we hope we won't be in the dark, but we don't know what today will hold. Fay should be passing over us today. Please keep us in mind....purrs Mr. Jinx
*****UPDATE******
We are all home, snug as a bug.
Things do not look good.
(Momma hates to use da compoodle at home cuz all we have is dial up and it took us over an hour to just git to this point)
Fay is bearing down on the Northeast Florida after battering southern Florida all of Tuesday and Wednesday. She strenghten over land and is really baffling the 'experts'! They are calling her "fickle Fay"
because she keeps changing paths. We anticipate that we will not have power after tonight and we feel we will be without for a few days. Momma took the next few days off cuz they keep changing the timeline for when Fay will pay us a visit. The experts are saying that the worst for us will be after 2AM tomorrow then we don't quite know what will happen. But we is expectin a wild one tonight especially since they are projectin that Fay is gonna pass right over Clay County. But Daddy and Momma has got us as prepared as possible. WE got lots of battery operated lights and water and food and as long as no tree falls on us we should be OK. Daddy even got us a loud machine dat will make power for all of us.
We is werried bout Samantha and Mr Tigger cuz they are gonna be impacted as bad as we are. Stay safe guys!
*woo hoo*
The 11AM track from NOAA just came in... fings are lookin up. The are now sayin dat the storm won't make landfall until 8AM Thursday and that there has been no strengthening and that it will stay over land. THIS is good noos because it would gain strength in the Atlantic Oceans. Fay is certainly fickle!
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers...
~Abby

The Path of Fay

Mancat Monday

TS Fay

Saturday, Governor Crist put the entire state of Florida under an emergency. As a long time resident (my entire life! of Florida) I personally thought that was a bit over the top, especially since Fay was still in the Dominican Republic and a weak TS at that time. It is fairly certain (as certain as these things are) that Fay will impact Florida. This is a very telling graphic showing the path of Hurricane Charley (a CAT 4) back in 2004. 2004 was just a horrible year for Hurricanes in Florida, I don't believe any one in the state that year was left unaffected. We had 5 brush with storms in the Jacksonville area that year. We pray for those in the path (including ourselves) of Fay and hope it does not strengthen too strongly.

In remembrance of Violette Noelle

BREATHE

Today is the day

Breathe.

Today there is a mother and father who quietly mourns and wonder if they will ever find the thread to mend their broken hearts.

Parents who mourn long after every one else has moved on.

Parents who must remember to breathe through the hurt and push past the pain to appreciate what still remains.

Breathe.

It is a lonely day today.

Your Mother and Father miss you Sprout.
More every damn day it seems.

Breathe.

3 Years Ago Today...

This is how it all began : Meet The Manx along with this picture. This was one of the very first pictures I ever took of Abby. Abby was the inspiration behind the blog. In fact the quest to find Abby was what started me down the path of journaling. I kept a journal (prior to blogging) about my search for Abby, and I kept it daily for the two months prior to beginning this blog(which was when Abby came into our lives). I didn't know anything about blogging and I didn't know that there were even other cat bloggers out there. (Like duhr...)I first found Avram from New Cat City and I miss that he isn't posting as often as he once did. He certainly loves those two boys of his. Then I discover Laurence and Friday Cat Blogging. But it wasn't until we found the CB did we finally felt at home. It has been a wonderful magical journey with all of you and this three (THREE -- can you believe it?) has flown by. Thank you for your friendship and thank you for the all the joys knowing all of you...and now we look forward to year 4 and beyond.

Thankful Thursday

Miss Gracie Grace

Daddy has started volunteering wif First Coast No More Homeless Pets efurry Tuesday. They have a grant to spay/neuter feral cats in our community. He helps prep the instruments and do alot of the behind da scenes stuff to help da poor kitties dat can't help demselves. They've also just begun to let him help the kitties durin' reecoveree. He volunteers every other Saturday with LUCKY CATS adoptions. LC is the place Momma adopted Abby from, they are a grate organization. Daddy said that they work very hard to find kitties homes. Last weekend at P*tsmart Daddy said that he was the second volunteer to arrive and that the first lady told him that someone had come into P*etsmart and had left a orange tabby in his pet carrier and walked away, abandoning this poor little guy. (I know what that is like because some kind stranger abandoned me at the doorsteps of Animal Care and Control in Clay County -- and if you know anything about ACC in Clay county -- it's a near death sentence..Momma has terrible memories of going there to look for Button) There was a note on the carrier...can yoo pleeze splain to me how a bean cood do dat to der kitty? The only gud fing wuz Lucky Cat took him and will find him anutter 4efur home, but we feels bad when we hears stories like dat. Fank gudness furr all da beans werkin to make it better furrs all of us kitties.
:::::update:::::
Momma had to go to her bean vet yesterday and she came home and said that she has now lost 75 pounds!
****woo hoo****
That made Momma reely happee!
A happy Momma means happy kitties!!

Another Angel Got His Wings

I'm already there
Don't make a sound
I'm the beat in your heart
I'm the moonlight shining down
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there
We may be a thousand miles apart
But I'll be with you wherever you are
I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there
Oh I'm already
There...

Tuxie Toosday

:::Sniff sniff sniff::: TUXIE TAILS:

Last night Momma was sitting on the big chair and I was in her lap enjoyin my treats when all of a sudden both Momma and I heard irup irup irup and then saw Boo who was on the back of the chair swaying her head back and forth and we both went "uh oh she's gonna blow"... Momma grabbed me up and jumped off the chair but she was too late. Boo threw up all over her and all over the back of the chair. Momma had to take all her clothes off. Fankfully she keeps throws on the chair (to help keep down the furrs on the furniture) so all she had to do was take the throw and put it in the big washing machine. *whew* Poor Boo, too many treats. Momma said from now on no matter how much Boo begs she is gonna limit her treats.

Sprout

It was with a heavy heart that when I discovered this morning the loss of little Violette Noelle "Sprout". No words can express the sadness for such a loss, we will keep Monty's Mom, Tracey and family in our thoughts and prayers.

How can I bear to lose you,
my precious gentle one,
To know that you will not be here when my day is done?
So much of my heart,
my love, have I given up to you,
How then can I stand the pain now that your life is through?
My sorrow overwhelms me,
the tears so freely flow,
How can I carry on my life, with a heart that's laden so?
Then the answer comes to me from the stillness in my soul.
Remembering the love we shared will help to make me whole.
I'll hold you in a special place, so deep within my heart
And in these loving memories we'll never be apart.
You will not be so far away, your presence I will feel.
I'll wrap myself in your memory and so very slowly I will heal.
The years we shared, the little joys, the laughter and the tears
My love for you will never die,
but strengthen with the years
So fare you well, my precious love,
I gently let you go
And pray to all the Gods there be that you will always know I loved you so,
my little one, that love will never cease I gave you warmth,
I gave you love, and now I give you peace.
