Today we would like to take a moment to recognize that in the US we celebrate Memorial Day.
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.
My Grandfather served in the Army during WWII.
My Father served in the Navy during WWII.
My Brother served in the Navy as a NFO and retired from his service.
My Husband served in the Navy.

These are the men in my immediate family who have given back to their county and I give them my complete respect and say thank you for your service.
Without you and millions of other Grandfathers, Fathers, Brothers and Husbands we would not enjoy the freedoms we hold so dear.
Thank you.
Thank you to all who are standing in harms way.
Thank you for sacrificing.
Thank you for making this country proud of your service and dedication.
As Joseph Campbell so eloquently wrote:

Mancat Monday With Ping

We apologize for these being blurry.
But the lightening was very low in the room where we took them.
But they were just too good not to share.
Ping is very relaxed!

Thursdays In The Garden With Jonesie

This is the spot where Mom had her old greenhouse. She had had it for many years and the "door" on it had stopped zipping. Yep it was a small heavy plastic greenhouse. She really used it especially during the winter.

As you can see we have the help snoopervising the arrival of the new greenhouse!

Here is comes!

Backing in....
Moving it off the flat bed trailer.

Rolling it into the right spot.

Here it is!!

Mom says she will be able to use this one year around. It's 8x12x9.
It geeenoromous!
It has a spray mist system, electricity and fan. IT IS GREAT!

The Mighy Mississippi

America has an Achilles' heel. It lies on a quiet, unpopulated stretch of the Mississippi River in Louisiana, a few miles east of the tiny town of Simmesport. Rising up from the flat, wooded west flood plain of the Mississippi River tower four massive concrete and steel structures that would make a Pharaoh envious--the Army Corps' of Engineers greatest work, the billion-dollar Old River Control Structure. This marvel of modern civil engineering has, for fifty years, done what many thought impossible--impose man's will on the Mississippi River. The great river wants to carve a new path to the Gulf of Mexico; only the Old River Control Structure it at bay. Failure of the Old River Control Structure would be a severe blow to America's economy, interrupting a huge portion of our imports and exports that ship along the Mississippi River. Closure of the Mississippi to shipping would cost $295 million per day, said Gary LaGrange, executive director of the Port of New Orleans, during a news conference Thursday. The structure will receive its most severe test in its history in the coming two weeks, as the Mississippi River's greatest flood on record crests at a level never before seen.

St John's River
Mark Twain, who captained a Mississippi river boat for many years, wrote in his book Life on the Mississippi, "ten thousand river commissions, with the mines of the world at their back, cannot tame that lawless stream, cannot curb it or define it, cannot say to it "Go here," or Go there, and make it obey; cannot save a shore which it has sentenced; cannot bar its path with an obstruction which it will not tear down, dance over, and laugh at."

Forget Me Thursday

This is exactly how I feel this morning. I could not believe that Mom forgot to do a post for me today. Is that a slacker or what? I am seriously going to have to keep behind her and make sure she takes care of the impawtant things around here! Good help is hard to find! Daddy will find out today when they are going to schedule his upcoming rotator cuff surgery. We ask that you keep him in your purrs.

purrs,
