Irene Makes An Approach
None of these images are normal wave activity for our beaches in North Florida.
I can't tell you how windy it was and Irene is still over 400 miles away.
This view WAS not reassuring at all. I just pray that all of those in the direct path of this storm heed the warnings. If you have not been around a storm of this magnitude please pay attention to what the media is saying. Listen to the authorities and if they say evacuated, then do it. These things don't play around. Today as we were on the beach I kept looking at the homes dotted along the shoreline. The homes on our beaches are built right ON the water. I mean there is a small beach and then there is a house. I could see that the main route of A1A would be under water as it was just on the other side of the houses along the water's edge. In fact it was easy to see how the island we were on would be literally under water. I have great fears for what is about to happen.
This is the end of the St Augustine pier that is pictured in the above pictures.
They closed the pier at 3PM today!
It was too unsafe to be on the pier!!
Please everyone BE SAFE!

Thursday in The Garden
::::::meow:::::::
Mom thought this rose was really pretty.
And these yellow flowers are nice too.
Maidenhair fern
To make all the flowers pretty a little rain (HA)must fall.
Yeah what's all this about flowers? Now catnip I can understand, but flowers, NO!
Please check out all the other fabulous garden by stopping by Master Gardener Jonesie!

Life Interrupted
The Mom here:
Just wanted to let everyone know why we have gone MIA.
The Dad was recently admitted to the ER due to a bad drug interaction. He had just been put on two different medications and they did not agree with him. He is doing much better! He is also doing well with his rehab for his rotator cuff surgery.

Some of you probably know that there is a new storm named (TS) Irene in the Atlantic. It is near Puerto Rico right now, and a lot could change but THC (Hurricane Center) has it on a projected path for the SE coast of FL. There are quite a few cat bloggers who could be affected. But anyone who lives along the SE coast of the US has to be on alert and that includes a great many cat bloggers. We live in Northern Florida near the coast, so anxiety is high. THC is projecting that tomorrow Irene will be a CAT1. It has been since 2008 that a hurricane has hit the US coast line. The heart of hurricane season has only begun, the next two months will be active from all accounts.
+++++
So depending on what happens we may not be able to comment much, but we have set up a few posts to automatically run. Please keep those who will affected by this storm in your purrs. We wish Irene would just run away, but sadly we know, that isn't going to happen this time.

Whisker Hump Wednesday
Remembering Kismet
Kismet was a true man's mancat. In fact he invented Man Cat Monday (yep my hero) and he also invented whisker humps. Today in his honor we are featuring Ping's whisker humps (and he sure has some nice ones) as a tribute to the big mancat himself. Kismet left us August 13th and we know it leaves a big Kismet sized hole in his person's heart, and in all of our hearts, enjoy your carefree days Kismet, you will be long remembered here in the blogosphere.

Happy 6th Blogoversary
6 years ago today we started this blog.
Little did we know that we would still be going strong.
We began with a simple idea.
All we wanted was a way to record our everyday memories.
Blogging was a novel idea, at least to us, back then.
I had actually started a journal about adopting Abby, about how I was going through trying to find my 'soul' kitty.
After a few weeks of journaling, I found that there were people who had online cat blogs.
In those days they were few and far between.
We found Max and then Timothy Dickens. Those were two we read all the time, so we thought if they can, so can we!
So on August 15, 2005 ManxMnews was started. WE wanted to call ourselves ManxNews, but someone already had that name, so we just added an "M", and we've been at it nearly every day since. We logged over 21oo posts on our blog and we aiming higher, so we're going for more!
Please join us in our celebration of 6 wonderful years with all of you.
It is such a pleasure to see how the blogosphere has expanded and grown. WE love all the new life that keeps coming. We hope to celebrate many more years and we have grown to love all of you so much. WE cry together, and we laugh together, and what is the most important thing, we share together. This is a wonderful giving caring community. I am so proud to be a small part of it.
Kitty kisses,
