Kipper

by jenna.riedi • Posted in: Donations, Fundraising

Kipper is a survivor of the Bastrop fires and has been reunited with his family. However, Kipper was severely injured, with all four paws badly burnt as well as suffering burns to his face. “He is quite the trooper for surviving 11 days out there, waiting on our property for us” says his mom, Janet, “He was so weak, when he heard my voice all he could do was a quite, raspy meow and he couldn’t even get up.”

His family took him to the vet, who have cared for Kipper and helped him heal and while there is not a release date yet, Kipper is doing much better. Kipper’s family completely lost their house in the fires and one of their four pets as well. As you can imagine, the cost of this veterinary care for Kipper is more than the family can afford due to their terrible loss. They reached out to Austin Pets Alive for help with the vet bill and we could not say no. Will you help us pay Kipper’s bill so the family does not have to worry anymore?

Thank you!

Feminine Friday With Grace

Gracie always has the most expressive looks. Both she and Ping are the most wonderful cats to photograph. I love taking pictures of all the cats, but black cats are more difficult to photograph. But Gracie has such subtle shadings in her fur and she has beautiful perfectly shaped eyes that are highlighted by the black eye liner around her gorgeous green eyes. Plus she is just such a sweetie.

Comments

We just found out that someone had been having problems leaving us comments.
We remember when lots of people were having ALL kinds of problems leaving comments or simply being able to read blog posts because of issues going on behind the scenes at blogger.
So we switched our comments from pop up comments to embedded below comment option. But we just switched back because we've been advised that this is actually the easiest way for people to leave comments. If you wouldn't mind we would like your input, what is easiest way for you? Our ultimate goal to make it easier for you to leave comments. Do you like pop up or do you prefer comments simply embedded below? Are you having any problems leaving comments on this blog? Thanks we appreciate all your input.

Meet Sandy

We discovered a new blog (to us) and we wanted to let everyone else in on what we had found. Please meet Sandy a kitty who up until very recently was living under very difficult circumstances. Her circumstances are still not the best, but they have greatly improved since she has been taken under the wing of Austin Pets Alive in Austin Texas. If you get the chance please go visit this site and get to know Sandy, she is braving through squamous cell sarcoma but her attitude is good and her life is filled with love. Many blessings to your Sandy, we are so glad we have been able to make your acquaintance.

9-11

10 years.
Do you remember what the world was like?

10 years.
So much has changed.

But we will not forget.
As with so many things, that day will always be seared into our minds.
We hope that no American ever forgets.
Not just for the sadness and lives lost, but for what we all lost.
Let us all raise up and lift our sights to the lady in harbor with her blazing torch.
May the coming decade help us make sense of this past one.

For Cathy and Beau

It is with the greatest sadness we heard about the passing of our friend Cathy Davis. Cathy was Beau's Mom and Beau and our Miss Boo had been boyfriendcat and girlfriendcat for many years. We came to love both Beau and Cathy. When someone loses their life at such a young age (and we do believe 49 is young) it makes us incredibly sad. There was so much life in Cathy and it seems the world got a little bit darker because she is now gone. She was a woman filled with life, and even though she had her own health struggles her faith never waivered. We are so sad too for Beau who is a very gentle soul and we hope that he will find happiness with a relative, we do worry about what will happen with Beau. Because as pawrents we know that our kitties are of the utmost importance. This does give pause to think, what would happen to any of our kitties if we were not here. It is worth a thought and maybe a plan, because we know Cathy did not think she would not be here to take care of Mr Beau, and she would want him well cared for.

What we have once enjoyed
we can never lose;
All that we love deeply,
becomes a part of us.

Bob

Today we found out that a very dear kitty went to the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday September 3rd. Bob of Covered In Cat Hair passed after a long fight with cancer. Bob became Robin's cat about 5 years ago when her Mother passed away. Bob was not well when Robin took him as he was diagnosed as being FIV+ and diabetic along with some bad dental disease. But Bob was Bob and if you followed his story you know he was one of the sweetest orange tabby boys around. We know that a part of Robin's heart is filled with a gigantic sized whole named Bob as he became her heart kitty over the 5 years that he graced her life. Please keep her and her husband in your purrs, as for Bob, well we believe he is free of all his worldly struggles and he has earned his angel's wings. We'll miss you greatly Bob as we were pulling for you, but we know we'll see you again. Robin has closed her blog until tomorrow to heal over losing Bob. But, I know she would greatly appreciate any kind purrs when she opens it back up tomorrow.
