Thursday's Muse

Miss Abba Dabba contemplating life...or maybe she just sees a bug. With a cat their minds may be filled with how deep life is or wondering how that speck of dust got on the the table.

Wordy Wednesday: Ping

Ping

Here are the rules for the Nicknames Meme:Post a link to the kitty who tagged you (that would be my brother from another mother, Beezer), and post the rules on your blog. List your real name, how you got your real name, nicknames you like/tolerate, and nicknames you wish your humans would stop calling you. Tag several kitties, and write a comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

We have to go back a bit to the beginning when a trio of kittens were dropped off near our home in 2004. Both Jinx and Boo were quite friendly kitties, even though at the time Boo was a bit more timid, Ping was impossible to get close to. It took some time for us to understand what had happened and that this unlikely trio had adopted us. Some time went by before names were given to each of the kitties. Ping got his name because he never stops moving. I don't recall what the advertisment was on TV but the man in the ad was named Ping and when I heard that I knew I had the right name for our little man.

Ping is a worrier and he is a bit scarred from his former home life. I don't know what happened but I can guess that in his former home he was a bit hard to handle. It isn't that Ping isn't lovable because he really is a little lover boy, but he is so insecure and his feelings are easily hurt. He is just a sensitive little boy. So sweet and kind and he will melt you with his big green eyes. But, he is troubled. He really needs someone with him, but we have learned to accept his shortcomings because we love him so much.

Ping's nicknames are Ping-Ping, Pingee, Ping Boy, Ping-a-ling and hey you stop that!

Ping is our little tornado, he gets into more trouble than the other four cats combined. If something is amiss, I can guarantee you, it started with Ping. But he is a dear little angel, if not a bit of a devil in disguise, but how can you not fall in love with that face, and his sweet high pitched meow.

That's our boy Ping.

I think most kitties have played, but if you haven't please do and pass this on!

Nickname Meme

Miss Lady Boo
Here are the rules for the Nicknames Meme:
Post a link to the kitty who tagged you, and post the rules on your blog. List your real name, how you got your real name, nicknames you like/tolerate, and nicknames you wish your humans would stop calling you. Tag several kitties, and write a comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.
My sweet and handsome pirate Capt'n Jack tagged me for this meme.
So here is my story:
When we adopted Momma she didn't name us until we had been with them awhile. It was close to Halloween when she gave me the name Boo. So Boo I became and that is now my real name. Although I think I should have a real fancy name like Grace Kelly or something. Although I truly am a southern belle, so Melanie Wilkes might suit me better. Well maybe I will just stick with Boo.
Momma has some nickname for me. Mostly she calls me Boozie. Now I know what you're thinking, nope I have never partaked of the while spirits, I tend to think that when she calls me that it's more like Boozeeee! She also calls me Princess which I like alot because well she makes me feel like I am one. I also like being called Lady Boo and Baby Boo. I curl my body and tail when Momma calls me these names.
Thankfully there isn't any names that they call me that I don't like.
The only thing I wish is that I could spend more time with Momma.
But Abby always beats me to Momma, so I hafta to content with the Manx...
*sigh*
Well off to dream in my palace..
~Princess Boo

Let me tag Jack and Ping's ginger buddy Beezer!

Ping's Treasure

Ping came running in from the back screened in porch and he looked like he had something in his mouth, but at that same moment Abby was having a scamper around the house, so I was watching her and once she was through I found Ping playing with his latest treasure. Notice that the lizard has lost his tail.

Every time one of the other cats would try to see what Ping had, he would growl at them. I have never seen Ping get upset with any of the other cats in that way. It was an interesting reaction on his part I thought.

Finally the fun is over. Mom takes Mr. Lizard away still alive and turns him loose outside.

Upset Tummy

Abby
Yesterday when Momma got home I did not get up outta my bed to greet her. She immediately came over to see me and when she did I put my head back down in my bed. She knew I wasn't feeling very good. She picked me up and cuddled and held me for a long time until I wanted to be put down. Then she could see I was having stomach problems. I dove off the table and ran and when I did Gracie decided to chase me. I wasn't feeling good at all and while she chased me poo went everywhere. Momma saw Gracie right on my tail as I skid into the hallway wall and poo go all over the wall and floor, then Gracie chased me through the living room and den and kitchen and everywhere I went so did my poo. In fact I had as much poo on me as I did all over the house. Momma had to wash me off...ICK...water on my furrs...then she had to go and clean up after me all over the house. She said she found poo in the dining room, bedroom, hallway, living room, den and kitchen. It took her nearly an hour to clean up after me. She wasn't happy with Gracie for chasing me. If Gracie had left me alone I wouldn't have made such a big mess. Momma I'm sorry I didn't mean to do that. You know I hated having poo all over myself....my poor little girl she was a mess yesterday. After her episodes are over she is fine, but she must have bad stomach aches. I'm afraid that Abby is going to have to go to the V.E.T. and see if we can do anything to help her.

Meme

Abby
This meme was created by the charming cats at http://www.petspics.blogspot.com/.The rules are: you have to post who tagged you and link back to them and then to petspics.blogspot.com.Then you have to tag 3 other kitties, beans, woofies, or any other assorted animal. What three things would you do that you have never done before, if you knew you wouldn't get caught, get in trouble, or suffer any consequences?
Oh, this is so perfect for me!

OK, so I would:
1. Whap the TV off the TV stand in the bedroom.
2.
Drive a hot rod tractor in a tractor pull
3. tie mommy down so that i can lay on her face all day like i do all night.

My sweet
Sammy tagged me for this fun meme and I wanted to remind efurryone what 3 things he thought would be purrfect for him and now I will do mine...

1. Be in the seat behind Sammy as he is driving the hot rod tractor in a tractor pull...yahoo let's go Sammy!
2. Climb the 75 foot pine tree in the front yard and yowl for Momma to come and get me.
3. Learn how to make green fings so Momma wouldn't hafta werk anymore.

We would like to tag Chase and Dante to tell us what 3 things would be purrfect for them...

Pyewacket tagged me for the 7 random things meme...

1. I love to drink water from Momma's hand straight from the faucet.
2. I love to rub my chin against Momma's hand to scent her. I do this multiple times a day. Sometimes Momma puts her hand out to Boo and she just stares at her like she has lost her mind.
3. I jump up in Momma's lap when she gets on the loo and make her give me scritches.
4. I always wait for Momma on the bathroom counter when she takes her shower.
5. I love crunchies.
6. I am very talkative and I have a very unusual meow.
7. I purr very loud and I snore.

We would like to tag the kitties from PB&J!

Tuxie Tuesday

Abby: I like to lay just like this between Momma's feet when she gets up really early in the morning to get ready for work. I scratch at her pant legs to get the material to lay just right because I am making a neat nest for myself. Then I lay my paws on top of Momma's feet and put my head down on my paws. Then I fall asleep. I don't know why she has got to move when I get all comfy. I think Momma's should have to stay home with all of us kitties, dont' you?

A Very Scary Tail

Last Wednesday began like any other. Little household chores needed to be taken care of : especially ones that weather proofed the house as we were headed for our coldest weather in about 5 years. My husband had to clear out a drain in the shower and in doing so he had the window to the bathroom opened for some time and this is a key to a drama that unfolded hours later. The only change in our normal schedule was that my husband had to work evening hours that day and I would be home with cats on a very cold night alone. The day proceeded normally and as I preparing some coffee in the kitchen around 6pm I noticed that Ping and Gracie and Jinx were all congregated in the dining room. What really caught my attention was Abby going after Gracie, so I followed and out of the corner of my eye I caught the image of a shape and I turned the light on because it was totally dark in the room. Just where Abby had run was a SNAKE! A snake which was coiled to strike I might add. I freaked out. I had 5 cats very intriuged and I had a very short time to make a very quick decision on what to do. I felt I needed to have something that had some type of handle of it to keep some distance away from this snake who was NO happy camper at this point. So the only handy thing was a mop which I use to clean the hard wood floors with. It's like a swiffer mop with a hard plastic head on the end and a very long handle on it. So I just grabbed the mop and acted. I was actually proud of myself for 'catching' the snake under the head of the mop, but then it dawned on me what am I going to do now? My husband wasn't due home for hours, I had 5 cats milling around very interested in this wiggling creature I had under the mop. I didn't know if this thing was poisonous or not and I didn't want any of us to get bit. I was stuck because if I moved I knew I would lose the snake. The only object close to me was the china cabinet. I opened the drawer and inside was a heavy bevelled glass display tray. I hated to do this but my options were very low at this point, so as I held the mop with one hand and I used the glass tray to squish the snake. I didn't see any other option other than to kill the snake because more than anything I was felt I needed to protect the cats and myself. So for nearly an hour I battled with this snake, he fought me valiantly. But finally in the end I prevailed. I wasn't sure he was dead because he kept moving and I didn't know if I should pick up the mop and honestly I didn't even want to go near him. Finally I decided he had to be dead and I went and got the broom and swept him into the garage where I put a heavy can on top of him just in case he wasn't really dead. Silly I know. I figured at this point I was going to let my husband take care of the rest. I was so distraught by this point I was hyperventing. Abby knew I was in a panic because she was trying to calm me down. I called my husband at work and could barely speak because I was so scared it was just such a intense experience. We can only surmise that when he was working on clearing the drain in the bathroom that this snake seeking the warmth coming from inside crawled in to escape the very cold day. It is obvious how quickly the cats discovered him, so I know he got in that day. He was about 12 inches long and gray with diamond shapes on him. I thought about taking a picture of him dead, but I was too scared to go into the garage, because I really wondered what kind of snake it was. I still get goosebumps when I think about any of this. Has anyone ever had a snake inside their house?

By the way, the cats thought this was wonderful. Ping was especially intrigued, but then he is my adventurer. I shutter every time I think about Abby darting right in front of the snake when she went to chase Gracie. I think that is when it went into it's strike posture, and now that I examine the events, the only reason I think I was able to snag it was because it was cold and slow. I really hated to kill it, and if there had been any way to get it out of the house without harm I would have done so, but I was too concerned about the welfare of the cats and myself and I just couldn't imagine it being loose in the house.

But ever since this happened I cannot help but look into all of the corners now with a wary eye...and I still get those scary feelings. I hope I never have to deal with anything like that again. Although the cats had a total different feeling about it.

Mancat Monday --- We're BACK!

Ping: This is what I have been doing a lot of the past few weeks...Momma has been home with all of us for two whole weeks. There has been many adventures we've had and one scary one we will share. We've missed efurryone furry furry much and we are so glad to be back and we plan on visiting efurryone if we can get Momma off her duff...
