Thoughtful Thursday

Mom has had to rework the pictures of us she has on Dad's new laptop (since Momma's computer pooped out). She had to sort a LOT
of pictures and in doing so she got to reminiscence. She was amazed at so many memories flooding back. But that is why she started blogging. You see when Abby came she started an offline journal, and that was when she suddenly discovered cat blogging and thought it would be a great way to have a way to have all of our memories immortalized!

LOL
Momma is a bit over dramatic, but she felt it would be a good way to show all the funny and crazy things we do. It has become so much more. She never expected to meet so many kind and generous cat blogging pawrents. It has exceeded all of her expectations.
What a journey it's been so far.
And we've only just begun
Cue the Carpenters...

Mancat Monday With Ping

Ping couldn't resist checking out the see through tote.

Updates:
We kitties are not happy.
There are strange beans around our house and up on top of it and they are making too much noise.
They are also doing something strange to our atrium.
Momma there are strangers on our porch and
we can't go out there now.
Please make them go away!

(We are having a new roof put on this week,
and they are enclosing our atrium
and putting in two skylights)

Keepers

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused..
Their best friends lived barely a wave away.
I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress; lawn mower in his hand, and dish-towel in hers.
It was the time for fixing things.
A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress.
Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy.
All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful.
Waste meant affluence.
Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.

But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more.
Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away ...never to return.
So ...While we have it ....its best we love it ... And care for it .... And fix it when it's broken .... And heal it when it's sick.

This is true ...For marriage ... And old cars ... And children with bad report cards ... Dogs and cats with bad hips ... And aging parents .... And grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep.
Like a best friend who moved away or a classmate we grew up with.
There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special ... And so, we keep them close in heart and mind and spirit.

Good friends and family are like stars ... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

Update On Jinx

We took Jinx into the Vet this morning. He cried all the way in and nearly all the way home.
I don't know why but somehow I think he still equates the 'car ride' to being abandoned . Because he
still has hunger issues relating to the time that they had been abandoned (Jinx can never get enough
food). He weighs 14 lbs. Which is what he weighed the last time, so I was pleased as I figured he had
gained some weight. The Vet said he is a BIG framed cat and that 14 pounds wasn't too much for him.
Since Jinx is 7 they did a senior blood panel on him (we will know those results tomorrow). The Vet
looked at his lump and said she wanted to aspirate it, and put it under the microscope. It came back
just like she thought. She said it is fatty tissue that has harden, it has some fancy medical name, which
I have forgotten. But the gist of it is that as long as it doesn't get any bigger we'll just leave it alone
as it is not harmful. Otherwise the only thing she could do is take it out, and I will do most anything to
avoid surgery, and I'm sure Mr.Jinx will be happy with that.

Boy he is so happy to be home!
Thanks for all of your purrs!

Sleeping Beauty Contest

Kat's Ka
t is having a best sleeper contest and this just happens to be one of Mom's new favorite pictures of me...she says it reminds her of sleeping on a cloud.
Please remember my brofur Jinx he has to go to the Vet today to get that lump checked out.
We will be back to update what the Vet tells us.

MORE Mancat Monday

I found a hard lump around the size of my thumb on Jinx's belly. I must tell you it has sent chills down my spine. I am trying not to overreact. We have a Vet appointment for Wednesday morning. He is acting like normal, it was simply in petting him I noticed the lump because he normally won't let me pet his belly. So it was all by accident (or was it?) that I found this spot this morning. I don't know what to think, but I am trying not to worry until I have something TO worry about.

Please keep my boy in your purrs........and we hope that it is nothing.

This is a picture of Jinx from this morning in his favorite couch on the back porch.

Fangs

We have some great news to share! Yesterday at Lucky Cat Adoptions we had 10 adoptions. Yes indeed the big 1-0! Wow what a great day for finding 10 homeless kitties new and forever and ever homes. The past few weeks it's been very slow with adoptions, 2-3 per week, but then all of a sudden you get a flurry of fuzzies flying out the door into loving homes. We are all so happy to know that this many kitties found permanent homes in one day. Happy Sunday efurryone!

Thoughtful Thursday

We were thinking the other day about blogging. Well to be precise we were thinking about bloggers. We began to wonder what happened to all of the bloggers that we've come to know over the years whose blogs haven't been updated in a long time. We miss them and wish we knew what happened. When we first began blogging there was no cat blogosphere, no RSS feeds, heck Blogger didn't even have a way to leave comments, you had to have a third application to put comments on a blog, and along the way so many wonderful cats (and their pawrents) have come and gone. Momma started this blog as a memory maker. She wanted to have a pictorial representation of what went on in our everyday lives. She is glad that she has kept at it on a fairly consistent basis. Sometimes blogging didn't fit into her schedule and sometimes she posted more than one post a day. We have been happy to have met so many wonderful fuzzies and non fuzzies along the way, but we do miss and wonder what happened to those who simply stopped posting. We miss you guys!!!

Alan Sullivan

Alan Sullivan aka Seablogger, died peacefully today.

I discovered Fresh Bilge, his blog in 2005 when Brendan Loy was covering the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. What began as an interest in hurricanes quickly became a must read daily. Alan had a vast knowledge that I have yet to find in any other personal blog I have come across.

Alan and I could not have been more different. But our differences showed me how alike we were . I learned so much from Alan and to see his last RSS feed which was his own obituary left me with such sadness. I feel a great loss in the blogging community.

Brendan Loy
has posted a fabulous memorial to Alan today and I have linked to it.
Also linked is Alan's blog. It will remain as a testament to Alan and the brilliant man that he was and is.

I will miss you Alan.Your insights, your intellect, your wit.
All of your "rare readers", (as he called all of us) will.
Fair sails Captain.
No longer are your locked on land, you're now free to sail, and I'm sure you will.

Mancat Moment With Ping

He loves to lay just like this and roll back and forth and give you "the" look with those beautiful soulful eyes of his.
He is a real charmer.
And a ham.

Today is my late Grandmother's birthday. She would have been 103 were she alive. She passed away in 2002, my post detailing her extraordinary life is here. So, we remember her today.

Fursday

Today Momma has to go for another test. She has to have a bean Vet do a coo-long-oss-toe-pee. She is NOT happy about this and it is the furst time she has had to have it done. Me, I'm gonna sleep on it and purr until she gets home and then I will purr on top of her. I think she's grumpy because she hasn't been able to eat anything solid.
